Guaifenesin
Hi Shellyp87 I'm sorry but I haven't heard if it before but on looking at what it's for it says it's like cough medicine (expectorant) Helping to lift congestion from your Lungs. So I'm sorry if I'm being a bit sketchy but do you have problems with your lungs ? I have just copied the info on other drug information for you,
What other drugs will affect guaifenesin ?
There may be other drugs that can interact with guaifenesin. Tell your doctor about all medications you use. This includes prescription, over-the-counter, vitamin, and herbal products. Do not start a new medication without telling your doctor.
Peace, luv n light

Hi my friend.
I have not heard of this myself either. However I would discuss it with your doctor prior to using it as with all supplenents their is the risk of interaction with other medication and the dangers of overdose if your body does not needit. I want to truly wish you all the best of luck.
All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi. I looked into it and toyed with the idea of trying it when I was first diagnosed and desperately researching for a 'cure'. The problem is that you have to be very careful with eating certain things and using certain products (there's and a very long list of ingredients that needs to be checked on everything that you use in and on your body e.g. cosmetics, soap, bath products etc) and in the end it seemed like too much hassle and I didn't have the energy or motivation. If I remember correctly, it includes lots of natural things that will react to it so things like mint are a problem. If you are seriously thinking about it there is a Yahoo group run by a doctor for all those on the guaifenesin protocol.
Hi, I've been doing the guaifenesin for 6 plus months now. It has helped! I bought the book, read it , and said hey it's worth a shot. My pain and nerve pain was bad. I take 1200 mg of extended release Mucinex twice a day . I'm in the US and I don't know if you have Costco over there but that is the place that I found it is the most inexpensive to buy the Mucinex. If you get the book ,you read that there's a low glycemic diet that they would like you to do. If you don't have glycemic issues I think you can get away with not doing it. I don't do it.
My results have been good as far as the nerve pain. The stinging , burning, and skin crawling has gotten so much better! I still suffer from the deep aching pain, but that too has lessened. I still have to take the occasional pain pill and I do take Gabapentin at night mostly to help me sleep, but i'm off the nortriptyline. Yay!
I was skeptical about it too but what do we have to lose by trying something else. I started and stopped it to see if maybe it was in my mind ,but it really does help. I definitely noticed a difference when I've been off of it for a couple of days. If I were you I'd get the book because you do have to follow certain things. You have to change your hair and skin products so that they don't have a certain chemical in it which blocks the absorption of the guaifenesin. That part is really important. There are websites that can help you figure out which products are safe to use. I can give you those. I hope this helps. Send me a message anytime if you decide to try and you have any questions.
Can I ask if you have details of a guaifenesen protocol practitioner in the North West of England? Thanks
