Hi all hope you well. Another moaning post I'm afraid lol. First off had optition appointment last week and unfortunately my eye sight has deteriorated so now have to wear glasses all the time instead of just for driving, bummer lol. Seeing gp Friday to discuss terrible spinal pain affecting my legs and arms so going to enquire about having a full body mri to rule out anything sinister. Also want to discuss about trying something different for pain relief as been on gabapentin since November, currently on 600mg 3 x a day, but still not seen any benefit.
Are there any other medications out there that I could possibly speak to her about?
H Please don't worry about moaning, that is what we are here for!
As far as your pain relief I would research as much as you can, before making a decision. The other medication that is tried is the sister medication to Gabapentin which is Pregabelin, and that may be an option. Others find amitriptyline very useful too.
If you look down the right side of the page, you will see Topics, one of which is Symptoms and Treatments which you may find useful.
Hi thanks for reply, I mentioned pregabelin before gabapentin to my gp but she said that apparently gp's are becoming more reluctant to prescribe pregabelin as patients have been misusing it that's what why I was put on gabapentin. Not sure now cause gabapentin not working whether I'll be trialled on pregabelin.
Watch this space lol
Hi hun- I.m not a fan of anti epileptic drugs for pain, they only work on a few people. can you say what you have already tried in pain relief already?? no point giving you ideas on things you,ve tried!

Only gabapentin. Before diagnosis I was naproxen, tried codeine but did nothing. I've been on citalopram and mirtazapine for depression since 2014/15 which is why I can't really go on amtryptaline cause being on 2 antidepressants already. Problem is cause I had a drug addiction when I was younger my gp's reluctant on prescribing me opiods

Hi again- do you have a rheumatologist or a neurologist looking after you? If so you need to re visit and discuss the different kinds of pain relief available with your anti depressants. Pain clinics are also available if you ask for referral. these people are more qualified than your g.p to accommodate you trying some other method or drug. good luck.

No not under either. When I did see rheumatologist who diagnosed fibro he said he was doing referral to pain clinic but as of yet I haven't heard anything. Like I said I'm going to enquire about having mri done just incase something more serious going on so don't know if I'd see a neurologist then. Thanks for replying
Hi Hidden , My vision seems to gets worse , it's blurry after doing things like being on computer etc...May I suggest Oxycodone fir pain?? Is a good pain reliever.Good luck. Peck.🐤
Hi thanks for reply, may mention oxycodone. The way spine feeling though and other symptoms I've got a feeling she may end up sending me straight to hospital :-S.
