Hello,

I have many health issues. I was recently diagnosed with poly neuropathy in my feet. Recently both of my hair and fingers went numb, then I started experiencing shooting pain if I turn my hand a certain way. I can only hold my hand up like to talk on the phone for about 10 to 15 seconds before I have to switch hands and shake the hand that was up for 15 seconds. I also started getting an eye twitch in my left eye. I realize everybody has experienced an eye twitch in their life, but no exaggeration my left eye twitches around 40 times in one hour. It does it so often that I was able to video record it

Any of this sound familiar?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

What do you mean trouble?

I have to crush any meds I take and dispense them through my gtube. I know getting eye twitches is normal, but is the frequency normal? I literally get them 40 times in an hour. ( obviously that's just an estimate )

do you have any side affects from the amitriptyline?

Idk. I do know it makes me very tired the next day, and knocks me out at night. I think it might. R the reason for the severe numbness and pain in my fingers/ hand.

Hi there

Amitryptyline is one of the few meds usually prescribed for Fibromyalgia that has the least side effects.

If taken at 6pm this avoids any grogginess the next morning.

It is usually started at around 10mg and the highest dose is 175mg.

I didn't have any side effects to this medication at all.

The bonus with this drug is that it helps with low mood, pain and sleep.

Hiya Vikki1971 welcome to the gang. I've been on amitriptyline for many years and don't suffer side effects. I would not sleep without them. Good luck xx

Hi Vicki and welcome, cant help on this one but im keen to raise this with consultant to help improve my insomnia which is ridiculous. Blessings.

Welcome to the forum Vicki - I take 30mg of amitriptalene started on 10mg but doc said I could increase it gradually until I was happy with how it eased the pain. Doc told me it used to be given as anti depressant a while ago but is mostly used for Fibro now a it relaxes the muscles etc only side affect I get is a dry mouth first thing in morning but it eventually goes once I'm fed and watered but it's worth it.

Like you I have the same probs holding things up even putting the washing out so I know exactly what you are experiencing - I also have cervical spondylosis which doesn't help really.

I agree with Janet to take it early in evening otherwise you will be like a zombie in the morning - pains etc I was experiencing in tops of my legs are no longer a problem. So I hope you have good result from using them. Have a good day too. Take care 😘🤗🎄🎅🏻

Yes!!! I'm not waking up until noon or later!!! My family keeps telling me it's your body telling you you need to rest. While that may be true .... I had a feeling that amitriptyline was the main culprit

in reply toVicki1971

Hiya, I started on a low dose and pain clinic kept raising it until I was on 100mg a night but I literally couldn't wake up. So I stopped taking it and now don't sleep so am about to start again on 25mg. I've only learned since reading on here that it helps to take it between 6pm-7pm...I was taking it at bedtime so that answers why I couldn't wake up!

So here goes, desperate for some sleep so going to give another try! Apart from dry mouth I had no other side effects.

Good luck xx

I think I've been taking it too late at night as I feel groggy in the morning so I stopped taking it but then can't sleep and in so much pain. I'm going to try taking them earlier.

Thanks for the info 😀
