Hi Clumsby_Mrs

I am so sorry to read that you are experiencing this issue, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to the issue. I have this but with a swollen ankle (oedema) due to sciatic nerve damage. So I understand just how painful and annoying it can be, especially when it impedes your mobility.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and I genuinely hope that you can find the answers that you so desperately desire and deserve.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hi, I also get this pain in my left ankle and it makes me feel so miserable, when I sit down or get into bed it's awful because I'm not being as distracted as when I'm moving about. My gp has given me liquid morphine as its breakthrough pain. I try not to take it but 8 times out of 10 I do have to and it really helps. When I'm in bed I use my electric blanket and that also helps a little.

I hope you can find something that suits you to cope with it as we are all different. Take care ☺️☺️☺️

Hi Pennie1,

Thank you for your reply. I have tramadol given to me but it make me so itchy ans uncomforable, that its almost as bad as he pain. I try morphine patch but I am allergic so think the doctor wants to keep me away from morphine.

We haven't the money for an electric blanket but will save and give it a try.

Take care :-)

Hi Clumsy_Mrs

Pain that affects mobility is especially frustrating, isn it? Although I've had fibromyalgia for over 20 years, pain in my feet and ankles is new to me in the last year. I'm experimenting to learn what works for me. I find that if I push through the initial pain, walking helps me.

My bedroom is on the first floor. Walking downstairs always hurts and always feels better after than it did before, at the beginning of the day. (At the end of the day, going up is nearly too much if I've has a busy day.) I have a treadmill that I walk on, too. I push through initial pain and find it disappears as I walk. If pain returns I must stop because I'm doing too much. I need comfortable footwear plus handle bars for safety. I'm a dizzy broad. Lol.

I hope you find what helps for you. Trust yourself. You know your body.

Hi Clumsy Mrs. My Fibro journey started with pain in my ankles that no one could explain. Physio couldn't find a reason for it-no swelling, no evidence of damage to explain what I was feeling. It has never gone away, just got worse and affects my mobility. Some days it is so hard to just out one foot down after the other. I have other issues now as well-arthritis in knees and right hip so I have progressed( maybe that should be regressed!) from using a stick to a rollator and sometimes a mobility scooter for longer distances. I am currently on. Fentanyl patches but the ankle pain is still there. I try to exercise them in warm water at the pool, rotating them both ways as Physio told me. I wish I knew if there was a reason for the pain as it makes walking so difficult. Take care. Xo

Hi Kerryjess,

Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I do hope you fine some relief suitable soon.

Fentanyl patches put me in A&E for the night, I am allergic. Not that thy really helped.

This ankle pain is new to me, yes they used to ache but now they feel big and bloated and find it hard to put pressure on them.

I will try warm water but I already know this won't help. It all feels so hopeless sometimes.

I do appericate your time, best wishes,

:-)

Yes I do! I know how you feel,,, it's as if my ankles feel the size of a football but they are not. It gets so bad it prevents me bending them and causes great pain when I try to move around.

Speak to GP , see what they can give you for it
