Hi Maureen1one , I'm sorry to hear about your issues but sounds like they are on the mend?? In from the US so can't help with PIP but do wish you the very best!! Take care. Peck.🐤
Hello Maureen.....Sorry to hear you had to pack up work and are trying for PIP...One thing that is so important and is expressed in this forum is that you need the advice of an expert (CAB) to fill out all the forms and you must get as much documentation as possible from Dr's/Hosp/Physio to send with forms....I wish you the best of luck...x
Morning.
Please try to not get to worried about pip.easier said than done I know.
I had to give up work, for other reasons then I was diagnosed with fibro and had to claim benefits then pip last year.
If you can take someone with you, I can never remember things so my husband came with me.
My doctor told me to tell them what I was like on my bad days, and not to take my pain killer's that morning so they could see how much pain I was in.
The tablets you take, and how your illness effects your everyday life.
I got help to fill in the form the cab were good. They know how to word things the right way.
There are some sites on line that you can have a look at the form and go through it so you know what to expect.
I am sure someone on the forum will know which sites I can't remember at min sorry fibro fog day lol.
Hope you get sorted.
Gentle hugs.

Thanks 🤔I've already filled the forms in and I've got the assessment 17th but can't go as I've a hospital appointment really stressed about the assessment I'm having nitemares everything is so hard
Have you phone and changed your appointment I had to change mine they were fine about it and they moved it closer to home.
They asked me on the day.
To remember 3 items, pen, ball, hand gel.
What I did in the day, sometimes nothing if i am in bed in pain.
But when he asked me to stand I told him that I was in pain and I couldn't do it.
I had already been in the waiting room for ages and the interview room was a long way down corridor all things to make it harder for us.
It shouldn't be like this, for those of us that really need help.
Let me know how you get on.

Hi Maureen1one I see you joined a while ago but doesn't look like you have posted since then. Firstly, welcome to the site, I'm sure you will find it invaluable chatting to others that are going through the same experiences as yourself.
Please go look at the Mother Site fmauk.com where you will find lots of useful information and links on Fibro and if you look to the right of the screen, you will see Blue links to lots of information on Pip and what it all entails. I hope this helps and i wish you good luck with it all.
Peace, luv n light

Hi there
Why don't you get in touch with our Benefits Adviser Janet and ask for some advice?
Her contact details are are on the right of your screen in blue under Pinned Posts.
You may need to click on "view 15 more".
Also Google for a Disability Advocate in your area to help you with filling in your form.
The DWP are looking for how your illness affects you rather than what you suffer from.
Wishing you all the very best

My understanding of the Disability Benefit System is that it is there to meet the cost of expenses that an able bodied person would not have to pay. It has nothing to do with whether you can do your job or not. The answer to that is find a job that better suits you. What qualifies for PIP is whether your condition(s) mean for example you can no longer cook and need to buy in prepared meals, or if you cant maintain your garden and have to employ a gardener, or you need to pay for taxis as you are unable to walk any qualifying distance. The assessment it not based on how much pain you are in or what you are missing out on, or whether you have bought yourself a walking stick, its all about how your condition(s) affect(s) your daily living in specific areas. If you don't meet that criteria then think yourself lucky that you are not as sick as those that do qualify.
Hi there
I would definitely say that the amount of pain some of us live in 24/7 is taken into account for PIP.
Pain affects everything I do or can't do.

Thanks
Thanks
They look at how your problems limit you in daily life. eg your back and knees must severely restrict your walking. Ie cant do more that 20 yards without severe pain and having to rest. Straight away thats enough points for higher level mobility. If you can walk more than about 3 bus lengths without too much problem don't bother applying. You wont get it and will get lots of stress gathering the evidence. If you have a diagnoses for your back and knees in writing andvtake meds for them. Have a go.
Best of luck.
I would respectfully disagree with saying don't apply if you can walk x length. I applied while I still could walk that far and I got the Daily Living component as I have mental health problems that impact on my needs.
Even if you think you may not get mobility it's perfectly possible to get Daily Living which focuses on care needs.
Hi Teamvickers. Yes that is true. I shouldnt assume that Maureens problems are mobility only related. Indeed I got points and daily care because I need help in the shower sometimes and cant lift pans etc. Finding it difficult to stand to cook.
Hi Maureen1one
I am so genuinely sorry to read that you have had to give up your job, and I have pasted for you below a couple of excerpts and a link to the *CAB cache entitled: Preparing for your PIP assessment, so I sincerely hope that you find this useful:
*Talking about how your condition affects you
You should be prepared to talk about how your condition affects you even if you’ve already detailed it on your PIP claim form. It can be hard to do this but it will really help if you can talk about:
the kind of things you have difficulty with, or can’t do at all - for example, walking up steps without help or remembering to go to appointments
how your condition affects you from day to day
what a bad day is like for you - for example, ‘On a bad day, I can’t walk at all because my injured leg hurts so much’ or ‘On a bad day, I’m so depressed I can’t concentrate on anything’
It’s a good idea to take a copy of your PIP claim form with you. That way you can refer to it in the assessment and make sure you tell the assessor everything you want them to know about your condition.
*Observations on what you say and do during the assessment
The assessor will use the information you gave on your PIP claim form but also draw opinions from what you say and do on the day. For example, they might ask you how you got to the assessment centre. If you say you came on the bus, they’ll make a note that you can travel alone on public transport.
You might also be asked to carry out some physical tasks during the assessment. Don’t feel you have to do things in the assessment that you wouldn’t normally be able to do. If you do them on assessment day, the assessor may think you can always do them. If you’re not comfortable with something - say so.
