High blood pressure.

I have fibromyalgia and an underactive thyroid. I went to doctor's and was diagnosed with high blood pressure . I was getting a few headaches and lightheaded. I sometimes feel sick and have vision problems. I have to go back to doctor's to see if it is still high. They will then give me a monitor to keep an eye on blood pressure at home.

It is great that your doctors are keeping an eye on your blood pressure.

I know that there is medication available to control blood pressure (beta blockers) but I don't know whether you would be able to take it, due to your under active thyroid and whatever other meds you already take.

Hopefully it will have returned to normal.

HI All,

Blood pressure is separate issue form FM and underactive thyroid.

My underactive thyroid suddenly started working again so was then taking too much levothyroxine.

However throughout this my blood pressure has remained unstable....am on meds but remains unstable however doesn't go quite as high as when I'm not on them!

I too am trying to lose weight but not having much luck at the moment...take the meds as v high blood pressure can cause a stroke or heart attack and don't want to add one of those to the mix!!

Hi Barney. I hope your doc told you high b.p causes those things! Did you get advise on getting it stable? I.'ve had up n down b.p for a while but not given anything to help it..I.m trying hard to loose weight,slow process at present! Difficult to know what to do Ian.t it

I am so genuinely sorry to read and I sincerely hope that your doctor can sort it out for you. As the others have said, high BP can cause these symptoms but there are medications that can help. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.
