I have pasted for you below a link and an excerpt form the *Citizens Advice Bureau cache on ''Preparing for your PIP assessment,'' so I genuinely hope that you find this useful:
*Talking about how your condition affects you
You should be prepared to talk about how your condition affects you even if you’ve already detailed it on your PIP claim form. It can be hard to do this but it will really help if you can talk about:
the kind of things you have difficulty with, or can’t do at all - for example, walking up steps without help or remembering to go to appointments
how your condition affects you from day to day
what a bad day is like for you - for example, ‘On a bad day, I can’t walk at all because my injured leg hurts so much’ or ‘On a bad day, I’m so depressed I can’t concentrate on anything’
It’s a good idea to take a copy of your PIP claim form with you. That way you can refer to it in the assessment and make sure you tell the assessor everything you want them to know about your condition.
I have to go by my assessment for PIP by ATOS 6 weeks ago and it was really good and I felt comfortable throughout albeit it only lasted 18 minutes. I think you will find that they may have been taken to task over the number of complaints received and hope you will find it more acceptable Also my ESA was carried out by ATOS and I had nothing to complain about.
Where I don't claim for esa I do claim for pip.....I really felt that a pip assessment is more open and a relaxed assessment, in fact I just had a review and re-assessed only last week where I had a flair due to the stress of every thing........really felt unwell with everything I came to the point of not bothered with what the assessment was about.... it's taken 4 days to get me relaxed.....to the point I can manage to get out of bed and do my house chores but still limited.. with this warmer weather and just passing through my life I might manage a little more over time.....
If I have to go to appeal...well I have to see if I have enough energy..........I often don't care what happens....That's my illness talking now....xx
Hi security, I am so genuinely sorry that you have not been feelign too good and I sincerely hope that you feel better soon. I also want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck with your PIP outcome.
I've had both PIP and ESA interviews mid June, on consecutive days, so had to do the same trip twice, without possibility to recover in between! I was a nervous, pain-flared wreck; living alone and not having a partner or parent/child to share this ordeal with, I would not have been able to physically get there by myself and then manage to sit through the interviews. I was lucky enough to have heard about Porchlight support workers: my local Fibro Support Group had invited them to a meeting last year and I managed to contact them at my local surgery and get their support from then on.
The social worker helped me complete the initial claim forms and prepare for the interviews, drove me to the interviews, and showed incredible patience and understanding, repeatedly reassuring me and keeping me going.
I can really recommend to contact Porchlight to see if they are in your area to help you get through this ordeal.
I wish you lots of energy and strength to keep a 'clear' head in all this, cause getting overwhelmed and worked up beforehand is only getting you down and will increase pain and exhaustion. Easier said than done, I know, but so true!
