Fat fingers

Hi everyone. Not been on hear in a while I had a flare up. My fingers are swollen and really painful. I also get this weird sensation on the left side of my face and my eyeball. I also loose my balance I tend to go to the right and haved to steady myself. Two weeks ago I did just that and fell down a slope and landed in prickly bushes. Although I can laugh now. I didn't then. Does anyone else with fibro have these problems???? X

Hi there

A lot of your symptoms could be attributed to Fibro. However, any new symptoms should always be checked by your GP.

Your loss of balance could be Fibro, but then it could also be vertigo or other conditions.

Have you tried taking some anti inflammatories for your fingers. Ibroprofen would be a good one to try as long as it doesn't interfere with any other meds you are being prescribed.

To be on the safe side I do think a routine appointment with your GP would be the best idea.

I have serious balance issues, which is a Fibro symptom, but as I said it could also be something else, so should be checked out.

HI Busterelliecharlie.

I also have problems with balance, walking into door frames etc. I also get what I call the slapped face syndrome, when my left cheek is very red and hot. It takes hours to cool off. However I do have arthritis almost everywhere and a faulty heart valve so working out which is causing the current symptoms is not at all easy, but my fibro started with the slapped face so I'm pretty sure of that one.

I don't know if swollen fingers are a symptom of the fibro. You should go and see your GP if this doesn't go away. Take care of yourself xx

Good luck with the Gp. I have this strange sensation that suddenly the back of my feet don't seem to have sensation so I am standing and feel I could ripple over backwards and actually sway. It always happens when I am tired and trying to do too much.

Acupuncture affect its my head and balance and when walking to the car yesterday I reckon I looked as though I had drunk 8 pints as I was weaving from side to side on the pavement, very strange.

Do mention these things at your appt. as it is easy not to mention them and just put it down to the fibro. Good luck.x

Hi, I have the problems with my fingers all the time but also have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I also have the dizziness and have recently fallen myself due to this. I would also like to mention that my daughter had all of your symptoms but had nausea as well, she was recently diagnosed with MS. if your symptoms persist it might be worth getting any new symptoms checked out. I also have fat swollen fingers and swollen joints which I had bloods done for Rheumatoid Arthritis - tests where negative so it must be Fibro! The evenings are worse when they swell up more but cold compresses help. Do talk with your GP about the other symptoms and I really hope things improve for you....let us know how you get on please.

Ask your doctor to do a blood test and check B12 levels, ferritin, folate and VitD. Loss of balance and strange nerve sensations can be caused by low B12.

Sorry I laughed at the prickly bush bit, hope you didn't get prickled too much. Yes I sometimes get this, it feels as if my body is veering off to one side, it's weird and at times I bang into the door frame or something else that has been there for yrs and nobody has moved it. I've never mentioned this to my doctor, prob wud be wasting my time anyway. Also docs 10 minute appointment time they give me the pleasure of having. At times I think, am I imagining that just happened as it can be over so quick. I just thought here we go another symptom of fibro. I have docs a wk Friday, if and its a big if I remember to I will ask him about this. Oh wait a minute it's a phone appointment I have, not even going to see the man in person.
