Last week I was so drained, spent most of the week asleep or resting..went shopping yesterday and couldn't hold a small shopping bag, had to get a taxi home..Today I'm not so tired but I have pain in my leg and am now limping quite bad.
I employer sent me to see OT and I cam out feeling a little better..she was so understanding and recommended my duties and hours were cut, temporary until I at least get a diagnosis..
However, had a meeting to discuss this at work, it was agreed to cut my hours to part time..From 7am to 11am, however I tried to explain my symptoms are worse in the mornings and would it be possible to start later around 10am like the OT recommended..but NO.
Then they tell me now my hours are cut, if I have one day off I will be dismissed!!! I'm so gutted cause I cant guarantee I will be able to make it every morn..I have work tomoz, and right now I'm in pain, i can barely walk with the pain and I'm now stressing as i rely on public transport to get to work and not sure whether I'm going to manage Thi tomoz. Dont know how you all cope, you all sound so strong and I'm falling apart..My life and all I love has become a struggle.
hi shortansweet, I wish I knew how to help you I really do, firms these days seem to be a law unto themselves, they dont sound like very good employers anyway and dont want to make it worse but they sound as though they just want you gone, there must be some employment law against this type of discrimination, Im sure that some of the admin people here will be able to talk to you better that I, that apart, your not alone, talk to the people on here, please let everyone on this site help you, they'll do their utmost to do so, I really hate to hear you sounding so down, tomorrows another day, things will work out eventually, you see, good luck with your appointment with the consultant, hope it helps. Remember someone is always on line here members come from all over the world. Best of everything. Lyzzie' x
One thing missing from your post, what your employment terms are. These are important, as they cover just the situation you describe, and control the actions your employer can take. (I have managed up to 12 team members at a time within the Civil Service, so have attended lots courses on just what you describe).
Please can you let us know what type of contract you are on, or if you prefer privacy, contact me through PM. Happy to help if I can, but first things first, you do have some rights as an employee, we just need to work out what they are..
I gave up work because of this, employer didn't comply with recommendations from OT, after 6 months of being on the sick, I just knew I couldn't cope with all the obstacles of the day without them, it's very hard financially, but I'm able to manage my illness without the guilt of thinking I'm letting people down by not be able to do my job, which has eased the depression quite a lot, I hope things work out for the best for you
I also would not have thought that they could fire you just like that? They might threaten and if they do you can sue I would expect? However, the advice given by hidden sounds very good and I would do what others say, as they seem to know what they are talking about!
I wish you luck and I hope you can get something orted out properly for you.
