2015 is the start of my quest for pain relief...

Hello everyone and happy new year! I hope you all had a wonderful festive season?!

This year has stated for me in a blur of pain, tingling and stiffness. I have therefore decided to try out a few new types of therapies for pain relief.

Firstly, my horrid rhuematologist recommended pregablin over 2 years ago - my GPs have refused to help but I'm going in armed with my hospital letter on Saturday to demand some they listen.

Secondly, I've started going to meditation classes again, on Saturday this brought me right up to the barrier I hold against my pain and it was a very uncomfortable 2 hours. Strangely I managed to trundle off for lunch and a stationery shopping session afterwards. And then a long snooze.

Thirdly, I'm beginning yoga on Thursdays in a small local setting with a recommendation from the owner for a session with a lady that focuses on body healing.

And finally, for now, I've ordered a book - Full Catastrophe Living - which hopefully will combine my mindfulness and meditation with teaching me how to use it for pain relief.

The university of Surrey contacted me today too. I'm going to take part in a gluten free diet trial to see if that helps with pain too.

Surely one of the above has to help?! If it does, you guys will be the first to know.

Have any of you tried these? Have they helped at all?

Hope the journeys not too bumpy :-)

I started meditation classes shortly before Xmas and the classes re start next Wednesday, so I am looking forward to that, I also do Pilates and am in a walking group, xx

Thanks for your feedback guys. Yoga starts tomorrow, I must admit, I'm a little frightened.

I go to therapeutic gentle yoga, can I suggest that you just listen to your own body and don't go past your limitations, explain to your yoga teacher than you may have to rest inbetween yoga poses and perhaps shorten the time of hold of poses so that she /he understands and then you can work more freely with your own body and not feel pressurized. I keep to a gluten-free diet, I think it helps on the whole.

The study is said to have lots of support and foods to try so fingers crossed I like them all. I'm not a big wheat eater anyway so think this helps a little x

I wouldn't waste your money there are so many online and on Pinterest free. I am trying a paleo diet xx

Paleo is kinda going back to cave man diet. Meat fish nuts unrefined food. Not processed food.

I'm convinced a lot of our problems are exacerbated by modern living ie:- processed foods, pesticides used in farming etc. I try to cook proper meals as often as I can but sometimes it can be difficult to stand long enough. My solution? Throw everything in the pans and get my husband to stand and stir. Not ideal and not possible for everyone I know but we all have our little ways of getting round our problems. The other day I shopped for a lot of fish pie ingredients. Exhausting and enough for one day. Next day it took all day to assemble 16 individual fish pies sitting down every 20 mins or so. Today I'm in pain but I have enough stews, curries, casseroles and home made pies frozen for a siege from previous cook in days. So much tastier and better ingredients than packets. And no nasties. How long I will be able to keep this up is anyone's guess but as long as I can I will try. Good luck everyone hope you all feel a little better for today's sunshine.

I love books too but the trouble is you often get a few recipes you don't like. You could find online and print off?
