My insides are shaking.

What is the feeling of shaking internally called? Where does it stem from? Also, what helps get rid of it/diminish it? I know that anxiety could be a cause, but I don't actually feel anxious about anything neccesarily when I'm shaking. I also have fibromyalgia and a history of seizures.

Any help would really be appreciated.

amanda, The thing I was going to mention was anxiety but seems your aware of its side effects.... could be panic attack. They can both have the same syptoms but I feel in my situation I have control over what causes anxiety as its self made as with a panic attack mine seem to come from nowhere. I hope this helps.Have a good night . Peck.🐤

Hi amanda56thomas

Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I have pasted you a link below to our mother site, FMA UK which hosts loads of useful Fibro information:

fmauk.org/

There can be many different reasons that you are experiencing an internal shake, the most common is called: ''Essential Tremor'' and I have pasted you a link the NHS Choices cache on this issue:

Some other possibilities are a thyroid problem, low / high blood sugar levels, infection and even the menopause can cause this. It may prove beneficial to discuss this problem with your GP or medical specialist if your symptoms persist or get any worse, and please never rule out your seizures?

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hi

Are you talking about a visible tremor that effects you or a invisible one that feels like something inside you is vibrating . If so I too get this and thought is it a panic attack or anxiety but I am sure its not . GP does not know why it happens I have made notes and find it normally happens when I have done too much and if I sit down and rest it goes away. So as soon as I feel it happening I rest and find this works for me . Best Wishes Rose

Morning Rose54. I get exactly the same. I even wake up like it sometimes. But after speaking to GP about, I just try to ignore it and it eventually goes away. Especially like you if I do too much. Xx

Good morning Amanda ,yes I get this too, but usually also when I have done too much and I am extremely tired.. But with your history of seizures, you should have a word with your GP to put your mind at rest. Take care.xx

Hi Amanda , I get this it's a fairly recent thing for me (the last 4 months or so) my blood results were OK for sugar and I don't feel anxious, chatted to the physio about it and she said its fatigue, this makes sense in my case. If I've overdone things it can get quite bad, it does ease when I rest. I would check with your GP though. Take care, Kath

Hi Amanda, I also get this sometimes. I do associate it with being very tired. I have talked to my rheumatologist about it and he says its part of the fibro. Best get it checked out, but it may very well be in your case too.

Hope it settles down, Hilary

Hi Amanda. I'm a first time poster/replier and recently diagnosed after 7 years of symptoms! If you are taking any medication, check if it is a side-effect. When I was first prescribed amitriptyline I experienced these internal tremors which felt like I had OD'd on caffeine. I felt very peculiar especially as I could see no visible sign of the shakes on the outside!! They settled down after a few days. Obviously, if you have any doubts and think there might be a medical cause, get checked by your doctor but fingers crossed it will be nothing serious X

I would echo marielena. These sorts of things happen without any identifiable cause etc. Medication,(e.g.nifedipine,amitriptyline for starters, low blood sugar, exhaustion, diet( white flour) lack of nutrition, food etc, thyroid problems., gluten allergy. The list goes on. If you've checked things with your GP and all appears normal then it's as likely to be yet another symptom of Fibromyalgia. However it would probably be worth keeping a diary to see if there are any patterns before it comes on. A good start as long as other things have been eliminated would be fluids, lots of rest and maybe look at your diet to see if the shakes come on after you eat something. Hope this helps and good luck.

exactly the same for me. It seems as if it's fatigue. therefore pacing tasks is important, as soon as you feel the shakiness inside take a 10 min rest - it will then subside. Its a case of listening to your body. I have learnt if i push myself too far when shaking it will put me back for a number of days.

Hi amanda, I can't tell you the name of this shaking, but I have the same every day! I have it all the time, especially in the morning when I wake up. I am not anxious about anything, I get a little stressed in the morning because I need to get ready for work, but I also don't know what it is....:( I do wish you a lovely day, with thoughts of a painless one and less shaking. I would check it out though, with your GP, if he can suggest something. Peace and love!

Thank goodness I found this forum. I have had hypothyroidism for 15 years now and only within the last couple months have I had this shaking feeling. It feels like it's in my bones. I manage anxiety well, do not use tobacco so I took myself off caffeine over a month ago and I feel no relief.

My labs are bad despite being on 125mg levo; thinking of decreasing at the risk of feeling like crap again.

Has anyone found any relief for the shakiness? I thought gaining weight and losing my hair was bad, but this is the worst symptom yet.
