Hello all awake again.: Here we go... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Hello all awake again.
You are not alone, I hope you can at least rest, I'm off to give sleep another go xxx
I'm awake😊
Have you talked to your Dr., about your insomnia?
Hi stargirl47
I am so genuinely sorry to read this my friend and I sincerely hope that you can manage some sleep. You are most definitely not alone as I am here as usual on the night shift. Please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
Unfortunately, I am awake filling out paperwork as usual.
I am the same mind you I always wanted a good night life must turn up the music and boogie
Sorry to hear about this. My problem is staying asleep. I never manage to sleep for a continuous hour. I guess that's better than not sleeping at all but I still don't get restorative sleep. Stupid Fibro!
Saw on GPs Behind Closed Doors programme last night that one should stop using phones and tablets an hour at least before going to sleep. The doctor was advising a guy who was having problems sleeping.
Don't know if this app!is to you but its worth considering.

Hi yes isn't "can't sleep" so annoying - there was a day when I could just crawl into bed and go straight asleep - long time ago ! - use to get the itchiness terrible (tear my skin up) - but since going on gluten /wheat , sugar free diet it has stopped - still get very hot of very cold though - hope you can get some sleep later x
You weren't alone, l just decided to, "Do something useful!," so at 9.30 l went to an all night supermarket, did a bit of food shopping, then went back after loading the car and snacking, always take an energy booster with me as the cafe isn't open late at night. This time l investigated the clothing aisles, after availing myself of the toilet facilities. l then chatted to the two 'girls' supervising the self checkout tills and also the security chap guarding the door.
This is a much more pleasant way of passing the night than tossing & turning, getting restless legs and punching hell outta my pillows and spending another night on my p.c. just didn't appeal, but here l am again, but then l was expecting an important email.
l did get some sleep last night but that was in my arm chair, whilst using the p.c., forgetting to take my medication fully dressed, leaving the lights on and not having fed the dog! l can feel myself nodding off now and although it's 9.21a.m. , at least l have the opportunity to trot off to bed now, having stuck a note on the front door saying, ' Please do not disturb until after 1.00p.m. But you watch, I'll proberbly start the usual tossing & turning ...etc....etc hey ho. Hugs, Jacqui
I consciously decided not to go on the tablet last night when I was restless and wide awake and listened to music instead.
That was how I was the night before hot and itchy for no reason. I wish now I had got up and had a lukewarm shower as I felt much better. I bed you find you will feel like a Zombie today as yesterday for me was a right off. Hope work isn't too arduous.
I feel like you what have I done to deserve it as I certainly have a clear conscious. Always been a poor sleeper but since fibro terrible. I've done all the things you are supposed to no avail. Hope our rest is a bit more peaceful tonight.x
Know what it's like. I already had Restless Leg Syndrome and now, Post Op, from knee replacement pain from the joint. I know exactly how you feel.
Best wishes
Phil
HI All. I consider myself a bit of a die hard insomniac. Having had problems off and on for 19yrs. Clearly things aren't going to work for everyone, but I thought I'd share some of my remedies, nothing fancy, just things that seemed to have made a difference.
So as someone said above, for at least an hour before bed cut out anything which stimulates your mind. If you can get important things sorted during the day, then you won't be milling things over in your mind at night. So keep a list of to do things and tick them off as you get them done, will give you the idea you're in control. If you have things on your mind that are worrying you, share it with someone who can perhaps give you a different perspective on it, or sg=hare the solution with you. For those of you not working as frustrating as it is not sleeping and further debilitating, for those that work it's even more of a panic. I came to the realisation that panicking or fretting actually made things worse, so just accept the fact you're not sleeping and act like it's not such a big deal, this further helps in calming your mind as above.
Next would be if pain or anything physically is the the reason for not sleeping, discuss commencing something like amitriptyline at night. It enhances pain relief over night, it was the single biggest factor for improving sleep for me. Take this at least 3 hours before bed. It won't work for everyone but there are other meds which act in the same way, so definitely worth a try. Also make sure you have had adequate pain meds throughout the day, better little and often, than trying to take a large dose all at once when your pains severe, because you've allowed pain to build up during the day. One of the things I have learnt over the years, is no one gets an award for taking the least medication. If you need pain relief take it, you can always wean yourself off things, if things improve.
If you're tossing and turning in bed, lying there to me just seems to make my brain keep telling me "I'm not sleeping...I'm not sleeping....I'm not sleeping" . So what I do now is, I change my situation. I usually go downstairs, set up a bed on the couch, make it really comfy, make some tea or milky drink and some toast and read a little, I'm usually asleep within twenty minutes. If you also always sleep on a certain side, simply yry changing that, anything that tells your brain you aren't trying to sleep.
Certainly learning some sort of meditation is going to help. It again calms your mind and also takes your mind off the problem of not sleeping. There doesn't have to be anything that complex, simply focusing on your breathing can be enough, also making a calm soothing envirnment may also help. A tidy room, space, a lack of clutter and colours in the room which enhance the idea that this room is about rest, is all going to help. Also not too many electricals, keep it all very simple. the use of things like lavendar etc all aid rest and sleep.
Don't know if that's any use, i know it's nothing outlandish but when you get in a cycle of not sleeping, you can also adopt some bad habits which you need to get rid of. Good luck everyone.
P.S. Thinking that any of this is something you deserve or don't deserve and you have somehow brough this on yoursleves, is really not even worth giving any attention to. No one deserves it, it simply happens. I think, why not me? Why should others suffer and I somehow feel I'll be exempt. I usually feel thank god it's not something worse. So put that thought aside, stuff happens, there's a point where you begin to take charge mentally and that can take years to happen, but it can get better, even if I still don't sleep well after 19yrs, what's changed is I just look at things differently now.
Hi my friend, I genuinely hope that you and your hubby managed some sleep eventually? We had a little rain but nothing more! But it has made the air smell sweet and clear.
Gentle hugs for you also
Ken x
