Does anyone on this wonderful Forum suffer with a constant salty taste in their mouths? I have had this problem for at least a couple of years now. I do not eat crisps but even my lips taste like I have eaten a bag of Salt n Vinegar (Without the vinegar) I do not use salt in cooking. Would love to hear from you and hopefully get some answers/tips. I drink water through the day.. sometimes up to 5 litres just trying to get rid of the salt.

Constant Salty Taste
Yes I have had something similar after a sinus infection last year very strange mine is sort of metallic/salty and like you don't use salt to cook. I find sucking a fruity sweet seems to help take the strange taste away. If you Ind anything that helps permanently I would be very interested in it.x
AlegnaB , Sorry you can't get rid of this!!! I must say I admire the amount of water your drink daily...very good for you.I wish I did.Peck🐤
Hi AlegnaB
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today?
I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are experiencing this issue, and I genuinely hope that you can find some relief to the problem. There could be several reasons for this. Bacterial sinusitis can cause this and so can tears (are naturally salty) as the tear ducts drain into the nasal cavity and once tears enter there they can drip down the back of the throat and cause a salty taste. Another thing is bleeding gums, as blood is also naturally salty and if this occurs you will experience a salty taste in your mouth.
I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
Thank you once again Ken. I do not have bleeding gums now but I did many moons ago which left a metallic taste. Gums are now sorted and healthy. It could well be nasal drip. I now sleep in a riser/recliner chair for a whole host of reasons but it still goes on. Hope Springs Eternal (for all of us) Angela
Hi from Nurse Gladys Emanuel (open all hours)-I would suggest you ask g.p for some bloods taken , you MIGHT have an over abundance of a chemical that throws off a salty taste-I was once told I eat oo many bananas thus potassium levels were high.. Good Luck
I do eat a banana a day so maybe potassium levels are high. I will check with my GP. Thanks.
I started with this salty taste in April and can't get rid of it at all. It makes me feel sick and everything tastes horrible. I have stopped drinking coffee because of the foul taste and have stopped taking all medication, including vitamins. I have had my zinc and electrolytes checked, have been to dentist and even to a specialist as one of my doctors thought I could have mouth cancer, all to no avail. I even stopped using whitening toothpaste as some people said they had a reaction to sodium lauryl sulphate. I have now started getting a thick coating on the back of my tongue but I have tried daktarin and still no relief. Any ideas?
Yes I have a salty mouth constantly. Have tried all remedies. Can someone help?
