My very close encounter with Her Majesty !

Before my driving licences were revoked by the D.V.L.A as a result of my illnesses I drove a company car and was living with my then girlfriend in Grays in Essex and every 3rd or 4th Friday afternoon we would leave London and drive to Weston Super Mare where we would spend the weekend with friends who had a pub there. I have a weird sense of humour and ages ago I had purchased a sign for the back window of my car that read "Mother in Law on Board" and I also had a fake ruuber arm with a fake hand attached that looked very realistic and I placed the arm so it was hanging from the boot of my car and it gave many people a good laugh.

This particular Friday we were in the middle lane of the M4 sat in heavy traffic and my girlfriend was asleep in the front seat as a result of ladies problems when I saw a car in the fast lane that looked like a police car but had no identification marks on it. It went passed me slowly and the 2 guys inside where laughing at my joke arm and then a really nice chauffer driven Jaguar that was behind the police car passed me very slowly with a very well dressed man sat in the front with the chauffer who was laughing and pointing at my car and as I glanced into the back of the Jaguar I shouted in astonishment "Oh sh** it's the Queen"

I dragged the baseball cap I was wearing off my head and all I could think to do was bow my head very deeply I must have looked like a right idiot and then I looked up and she was smiling and she gave me a little wave and was off. My girlfriend woke up just then and she said to me "Have you seen a ghost you look awful", and I said to her "Not a ghost but the Queen" She did not believe me but I have attended several "The Trooping of the Colours" and have seen the Queen many times in person but not that close up and would know her face anywhere. I was also told that Her Majesty likes to travel to Windsor for the weekends and you need to travel on the M4 to reach Windsor by car. That was a day I will never forget ! Have a great day

My father in law sounded rather like you. He was always one for a bit of a joke and he worked in the middle of Birmingham and his car park had a big skip which the local shops used to throw away window displays etc. He got one if the dummies out and did the same as you. He was driving home along the motorway from Birmingham with the Dummies arm hanging out of the boot when he realised there was a police car with lights flashing and sirens going behind him and then came to the side of his car gesturing for him to pull over. Unfortunately the results was not laughter but a real telling off as there had been a murder locally which had been witnessed and the body had disappeared, oops. He was given a severe reprimand, it certainly stopped his joking for a bit.

They do say that the Queen in private life has a wicked sense of humour. I am a great fan of hers.x

Hahaha that's a brilliant story Hellboy..I can picture it..It's funny cos many moons ago we used to have a big RV (Amercan mobile home) & we used to travel all over like you & we would quite often meet up with others & go in a little convoy & one of the guys we met up with on the M1 had one of these arms & he had it hanging from the bunk bed & out of the window & i was frantic when I saw it because I thought someone had gone to sleep on the bed & was hanging out of window, it looked so realistic. Well i couldn't stop laughing about it for days. I bet the queen was chuckling away hehe.

Luv Jan x

That is priceless! You really couldn't make it up. 😂😂😂

My sister has an experience with Princess Anne. She was driving to see our parents and when she approached a usually busy roundabout was pleasantly surprised to find the traffic light. On driving down the road a police motorbike pulled up beside her and the policeman was gesticulating at her. She started to slow down but was waved at to keep going. She was a tad confused. It wasn't until she was waved straight across a very busy junction, normally controlled by traffic lights, that she realised that she was in the middle of a motorcade and Princess Anne waved at her as she went past. The thing that was going through her mind later? She wasn't dressed properly to meet royalty lol. 🐸
