Question about symptoms

I was diagnosed with fibro 20 years ago. It's gradually got worse, to the point where I might have to enter a care home. I'm only 56, has anybody else got this bad, this young?

That's terrible!! I'm so sorry to hear things have got so bad for you. I'm the same age, but haven't had Fibro that long. You must be very worried!

We keep hearing over and again how Fibromites get worse over time. So much for the theory that it isn't degenerative. There are sadly many lovely people on the forum who are very badly affected by Fibro. My heart goes out to all in that position.

Is Fibro your only medical issue? I'm just asking as most of us have other delights on our lists. I have several but my biggest problem is osteoarthritis. I was diagnosed with it at 32. Hardly wear and tear at that age. Like many of us I have an under active thyroid, and pernicious anemia.

Good to meet you, hope you stick around. 🐸

I'm very sorry to hear that you are feeling so ill, but it seems that you're in the right place to be cared for.

I am younger than you and have had it for many years, I struggle with the pain etc and am practically house bound. I can potter around most days still though.

I wish you the very best for the future.

Take care 😊

Hi Chiaracuddle1, my partner has stopped this from happening in my case this sounds devastating, so sorry for your situation I was diagnosed 1994 with CS & 2003 with fibro, so I have suffered for some time.

I do still have days when I spend more time in bed than out due to weakness and fatigue, but then I suffer more with the arthritis pain from lack of movement it is certainly a catch 22 as they say.

whatever you decide will be the best decision for your own needs. No way at the ripe young age of 56 must you forget that you are an important member of society, and I look forward to talking to you again soon, take very great care of yourself 😊

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi I have just turned 50 and we are discussing converting the living room into a bedroom for me. I know it is not easy, getting your head around how much your life changes with this condition, but you really have to learn how to accept things and adapt your life to whatever it needs for you to be able to exist with it :o). Not much help but until the doctors believe this is real and put a concerted effort into finding out what causes it and what will cure it, if anything, then we have to do what is best for us as the sufferers. Take care and good luck x

Thank you all for your kind and compassionate replies. 😀 I do have other ailments, undiagnosed osteoarthritis, bipolar disorder, asthma, depression, IBS, PTSD and I'm sure I've forgotten at least one, because as you've probably all noticed, you pick up labels like crazy if you have a chronic ailment.

I think doctors have started to take fibromyalgia as a condition more seriously, there has been some research that indicates it's a problem with the thalamus, which would explain the body temperature thing, I suppose. It is really nice to have found a supportive support group and thank you all for my nice welcome. 😀

P.S., I'm barely computer literate, so don't take offence if I can't find other threads.
