Question for ladies ?
Hello there Lou! If your pain is bad enough to make you feel like passing out I would suggest that you pop along and have a chat with your GP, the pain you feel shouldn't be that bad. Also on top of your Fibro pain you don't need that as well. It can be very exhausting too can't it. Explain to your GP how you feel and is there anything to help you for it and to manage it better. I am post-menopausal now so I don't have these problems, but when I did get bad menstrual pains I always found a very warm hot water bottle on my tummy (not too hot though) was wonderfully soothing. I hope you manage to speak to your Doctor about this, us girlies do have a lot to put up with don't we. Take care.
Hi - echo LibbyDe's approach. I get severe cramps around my period and use a warmed wheat bag and a bit of lavender essential oil on my pulse points. It just helps enough to get off to sleep - but it is really tiring. I also noticed that my periods have started to be more erratic and heavier. It may be the menopause - but I am only 45 so not sure really. My GP says not!
You could be Perimenopausal Suzy which means before the "real" menopause. Things can become very erratic for a year or two, some women escape this. I had the same symptoms as you for about two years at 45 and sailed through the menopause, my periods just stopped altogether.
"Perimenopause, or menopause transition, is the stage of a woman's reproductive life that begins several years before menopause, when the ovaries gradually begin to produce less oestrogen. It usually starts in a woman's 40s, but can start in a woman's 30s or even earlier as well. Perimenopause lasts up until menopause, the point when the ovaries stop releasing eggs. In the last one to two years of perimenopause, this decline in estrogen accelerates. The average length of perimenopause is four years, but for some women this stage may last only a few months or continue for 10 years." (Ref WebMD)
Hi, I hope you don't mind me saying and I'm not suggesting that you have the same problem as I had - I used to feel like passing out during my periods and was in alot of pain and had fibroids. I think you should go to your GP and see what's what.
Vit B12 really helped me, if I dont take it my periods are heavy, also instead of evening primrose try starflower its stronger.
hope this helps xx
i had a lot of trouble too ,and they recomended a coil ,it has worked sort of lol
Hiya xoxo
I had weird flows, heavy clotting...would flow for a few days, stop, start up again...I ignored severe pain for awhile until it literally brought me to my knees. Had a scan, it looked like someone had gone mental with a bubble machine. I was full of fybroids...I didn't fine out until years later that fybroids and fibromyalgia go hand and hand. Rule of thumb, if the pain is new or severe, get in touch with your GP
I have had a very erratic cycle all of my life until about four or five years ago, when I suddenly got regular periods!! I still get pain for about a week before hand but nothing like I used to have!! I also suffered with fertility problems and couldn't carry full term. i had seven miscarriages that I know about, possibly more.
If your cycle has changed suddenly, I suspect you may be, as LibbyDe suggests, premenopausal.
Pop along to your doctor, there is a simple blood test to check for menopause and if it is anything more serious, then you need to get it sorted asap.
take care of you xxxxx
Had a Mirena coil fitted about 6 years ago.
Periods are now a distant memory. I'm 52 now.
Not for everyone, but I really didn't fancy a hysterectomy which was the only other option open for
me.
Thanks ladies, interesting read I am going to chat to GP, as its getting really bad. think needs investigating. x x
