Hi Misty57

I am so genuinely sorry to read this, and I sincerely hope that they can find something to help you with your arthritis. I have arthritis but sadly I cannot take the anti-inflammatory drugs due to my asthma and COPD. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please look after yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken x

They can do a few things, but don't expect any immediate miracles. I am presuming that it's osteoarthritis. I have severe OA in upper and lower spine.

The injection is put into the affected disc and will probably be cortisone mixed with local anaesthetic. It's a nasty injection, feeling like a mini explosion so be prepared! But if it gives you relief it is so worth it. They can also give you a kind of epidural or so I've heard. Surgery will be a last resort. Then they either grind off the bony growths that are compressing the nerve roots or they can fuse the 2 vertebrae. Or both! It all depends on your surgeon and what the hospital allows.

I know what you're going through. I am currently putting off going back to my GP about the hellish sciatic and hip pain I'm having. My leg from just above the knee is constantly zapping (tingling isn't strong enough to describe it). My leg is also swollen especially my foot! I have problems getting the zip in my boots pulled up just on the one leg!! My back and now hip are so painful I burst into tears! The pain goes when I find a comfy sitting position. That's why I'm putting off the inevitable! I get relief from the pain, but not the leg.

Oops, I've been ranting, sorry! I hope you find at least one bit helpful lol 🐸
