The input from a specialist physio is a good solution to pain management. ask you g.p to get you referred.
Hi there,
welcome to the forum. I expect since you have had Fibro for a long time that you will have been offered the usual Meds and treatment for Fibro. As far as meds are concerned, it is not a great idea for us to recommend any one particular drug as we all react differently to them. Also we are not Medics.
It pretty much depends on whether your GP is willing to refer you to the different non- drug therapies, and whether they are available in your area.
You could ask for a referral to a Pain Clinic, or a Pain Management Course, or Talking Therapies i.e. CBT ((Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) or Mindfulness. Some people say that Acupuncture works for them, and Hydrotherapy, and Physiotherapy. Hot pads, and ice packs can also help and also Tens machines.
If you haven't already done so, you might like to visit our mother site fmauk.org where you will find lots of evidence based information about Fibro.
I hope you find what you are looking for, and let us know how you get on as we are a friendly bunch and there is always someone around to chat to.
Take care.
GP. 😊
Hi Wal46
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance.
I can see that ''Greenpeace'' has given you the link to our mother site, FMA UK which hosts loads of useful Fibro information and well worth checking out.
I personally undertake a daily physiotherapy routine which helps with my pain, and I also have a TENS Machine and this helps me also. It may also be worth talking to your GP about a referral to ''Pain Management.''
I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
