Just wondering if anyone with fibromyalgia can claim pip an get a disbaility badge?
Just been diagnosed but I am extremely ill going to work to suffer, struggling to walk an drive when I should be resting but money is needed as we all have a home an bills to pay!
Not anyone sadly. You have to meet the set criteria. Blue badges are got through your local council and each council seem to have different criteria, and I know very little about PIP except the fact that far too many of the forum members have struggled in their claims. Many having to go to a tribunal after their application was denied, and even then many have been refused.
I'm sure that someone can give you a comprehensive answer 🐸
The Blue Badge is applied for by getting an application. Form from your local council. The details of their particular way of processing them should be on your council website. If you can get a letter from your GP to outline the problems you are suffering from and your inability to walk any distance without pain or fatigue would greatly he!p your cause. You will probably be asked to go for an assessment.
PIP is not so much based on what illness you have but on how that Illness affects you on a daily basis and what help you need to do daily tasks like showering, cooking meals etc. Certainly worth having a go as you have nothing to lose but your sanity. I say that tongue in cheek as it appears to be much more difficult to get than DLA. Do send off for a form and have a look at the descriptors and how you for into them. The Benefit and Works site and a few others have a calculator where you can answer the questions and it gives you a good idea of whether you might be eligible or not. There seems to be no rhyme or reason on who gets it but as I say always worth a go as it is not means tested in any way and us not taxable. Good luck with it all.x
I do Leanne but I have got Arthritis as well but as RW & Sorebones are saying, it doesn't matter what you have got wrong with you, it goes on what you can and can not do and how it affects your daily life.
It's not an easy thing to do and takes a good few weeks to sort it all out after you have been assessed but you should go sick from work and you should get extra money and get the forms and help filling them in and if you are awarded the benefit they do back date it.
A lot of people are getting refused and then having to appeal and even then sometimes the outcome is the same.
So you have to prepare yourself for the whole procedure. If your in that much pain and can't walk very far you should be entitled to get blue badge, you just need letter from your doctor, fill form in & hopefully get one. Some councils even charge for them but don't think it's much.
There are members on the forum who are receipt on PIP and a Blue Badge. It is always worth applying. I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.
You can apply online. Type Blue Badge into Google and the website is a gov.uk one. All the criteria are set out there. If you are not on the benefits that qualify you, you can still get one with a medical assessment being done by your Council after you apply. The rules are much more precise now than in the past and there is greater consistency in who gets a Blue Badge and who doesn't.
