I would make a pain journal. That way you can take it with you

Hi Josie1973,

I think that's good advice from Regnofibro1, which I will be doing for my assessment on Friday, I am like you getting really stressed out about it already, first thing that stressed me was got letter on Thursday for assessment the following week, no time really to prepare, I hope all goes well for you Tuesday x

Hi Josie,

I was like you a nervous wreck, it was a long afternoon, my appointment was at 2.15pm arrived at 2pm as they requested never got called until 3.20pm dr was foreign so was difficult to hear all that she asked, so fair amount of repeating was done, my welfare rights adviser on hearing how it went thinks she must be new to the assessments process, as she did the eyesight test, mental cognitive test, reflexes tests on elbows & knees, arm & leg mobility, grip, push & pull of hands, arms & legs on the couch to test hip rotations & my agility of getting off the couch, I had my sister with me, who pulled me up & helped support me down from it, she also sounded my heart & chest, my appointment started at 3.20pm finished at 4.45pm so stressed but not sure how I came accross, was just told I'll get a phone call or letter from DWP she doesn't know when that could be, i hope your experience was less stressful than mine was xx

Good advice from Regnofibro re journal. Remember you are being observed from the moment you are there they even note whether you heard your name being called and how you walk to and from the assessment and whether you can carry a large handbag. They will also want to know how you travelled to the assessment and whether you travelled on your own so be prepared for this.

If you don't understand a question say so and blame your lack of understanding on your constant fatigue and fibro fog. Don't say how you are on a good day just how the bad days are. If they think you are okay 4 days a week they will think you can do a 30 hour a week job and rest the other three days. Remember they are not there to be your friend however nice they appear to be so don't get lulled into a false sense of security. I would read over the copy of your form before travelling there so what you have put is fresh in your mind as many of us have to wait some time between applying and being assessed and it is easy to forget what you actually put down at the time. I am not trying to scare you just being realistic having been through the process twice myself and accompanying my Oh. They are supposed to be more aware of fluctuating illnesses like fibro than when I went through my assessment so travel hipefully?.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on.x

Hi, if you download from Work and benefit site. i know it costs nominal sum, but they tell you how many points each thing they ask for. tHe point is not if you can do, but if you do it it makes everything a lot worse, which is why you shouldn't say yes to every question. This website for FM UNlocked, or whatever it is called, I get confused, used to send you details, but aren't at the moment which is a shame.

gOod luck.
