No sleep again

Getting fed up with this, another night with no sleep. And no daytime nap either.

I lay on the sofa with my other half watching TV and my eyes are closing and I am falling asleep, so he helps me up to bed and then thats it I am wide awake all night. I have tried sleeping on sofa, but after a 5 min nap I am wide awake all night.

Horrible I know but if you can't sleep just get rest. Have you audited your bedroom. Get rid of any electronics and only use it for two reasons. Right temperature , comfortable etc

Know that scenario only too well. My rheumy put me on amitriptyline. I take 80mg at tea time and my eyes are closing by 9pm. Difference is once I get to bed I'm out like a light. It has helped me during the day. Sadly my right knee is in agony so the past few nights have been a bit erratic, but before the flare I was actually waking up bright eyed and bushy tailed on a couple of mornings. I had completely forgotten how that feels.

It's not for everyone so I would chat to your Rheumy about it. You need to get out of the vicious circle 😺

All I can do unfortunately is empathise as I am exactly the same. I have even tried getting in my Jim jams early having brushed my teeth, etc all ready and the only thing I need to do is go upstairs to bed. Like you the moment my head touches the pillow I am wide awake. Occasionally I get a couple of hours disjointed sleep and then I think I have had a food night. X

My fibro & myofascial pain & muscle spasms have been out of control for the last 6 weeks. My rheumy changed my muscle relaxer & I have been in horrible shape. Needless to say, this greatly affects my sleep.

On top of that, I have rapid-cycle bipolar, going thru manic episodes every week with at least 36-60 hours with no sleep at least once a week.

In the past 6 weeks, I've averaged 1 1/2 - 2 hours sleep a night. I take melatonin, as I can't take the amitriptyline or lorazapam or any other prescription like them. I wish it helped more.

Sleep problems are part of fibro, but without the sleep our fibro is worse, then the sleep is worse. What a vicious cycle! Please talk to your doctor about it & get what rest you can.

Hoping you have more restful nights!
