I am so genuinely sorry to read that and I sincerely hope that you can manage to get a good quality sleep. I have noticed that many members are just like you and sleep for an hour or so and then get up for the same length of time? I am a lifelong (well, adulthood) insomniac and I understand exactly what you are going through. I am just about to go to bed and I will be up again about 8am and I survive on just a few hours sleep a night.

I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

I'm glad YOU'RE happy! Just kidding. I think fibro must affect the nervous system that way. I'm up but I'm also on the west coast of the states, so that's not saying much. :-) It's 9:30 here. But I can't sleep before midnight and if I'm in pain, well that can lead to insomnai. I don't like to admit it, but in those cases, I have to knock myself out with a muscle relaxer and pain med.

Some people find amitryptilline (I always spell this wrong) helps them sleep. Seroquel is an anti-pschotic which is sometimes prescribed in low dose for insomnia, but I would be careful about it; it can have some dangerous side effects. I think I'd prefer the insomnia.

I hope you can get enough sleep to feel OK during the day. That's what counts isn't it?

Sweet dreams.

My nights are exactly the same, about two hours sleep and then awake for ages. Just woke, thought it was eight o clock, then realised it was only seven! So might as well have a cup of tea. A whole nights sleep would be a miracle!

Ditto :(

I've also been like this for most of my adult life too, have tried lots of remedies, hypnotherapy, acupuncture etc without success. A friend suggested Phenargan might help & she's right it does seem to. She's a psychotherapist & has used it for years intermittently. I've noticed a pattern of feeling physically better & more capable / reduced pain when using it so want to discuss at my next hospital appt. currently I'm buying it over the counter & find 25mg ok but in desperation on bad night's 37.5mg worked a treat!!

Worth discussing with your GP perhaps. Bonne nuit

Yes I awake before the birds most mornings. Even if you do have a good nights sleep you seem to feel as if you have just slept crunched up in a box.

I cannot remember how many pillows I have tried, even bought myself a memory foam mattress, Taken natrasleep tablets, but they did not work.

As you probably do I go to bed feeling tired, sleep for a couple of hours then wide awake. Just before I am due to get up for work, I wish I could just turn over and go to sleep again.

I am now struggling to walk around the house, with aches and pains. Going to take my dog out and will be taking a walking stick.

I used to envy the furniture shops display of cosy bedrooms, and would be tempted just to hop inside for a sleep!

Take care

Yes I can be up all night sometimes I have always been a very light sleeper. I now keep my computer downstairs and don;t have a TV in my room either. I also try not to start reading my book as in some strange way it was as though I was rewarding myself for not sleeping or so I thought. Well to be quite honest even with these measures sleep is still as elusive. I sometimes nod off for a bit but I am then awake again for hours. I know it is the pain that often keeps me awake and like others have tried every pillow etc to no avail.

I do have a mild sleeping tablet but try and keep this to just once a week in order to snatch a few hours. I am finding now that the next day though I am good for nothing. I can feel absolutely exhausted and can hardly drag myself upstairs and then get to bed and am wide awake. I;ve tried all the relaxation techniques eetc and I find listening to music at least takes my mind off things a bit.

It is awful when I look out of the back and can see all the world at peace with no one else with their lights on it can make it feel very lonely but if we are realistic we know there are other people out there suffering. It is just that all my friends put their heads on the pillow and are away and if they have a disrupted night and say only sleep 6 hours they think the end of the world has come, oh to have 6 hours.

Hope we can all get a bit of shut eye tonight as just a few hours makes all the difference.x

Hiya sorry missed you I was awake but not on iPad my arms were to tired to hold iPad. So just lead there till I had to get up for bathroom held on as long as possible before waking my husband up for a hev ho out of bed,

Think all these nights no sleep is just the run of the mill with this stupid fibromayia.

Best pain killer I know is whisky but doesn,t last long. Fall asleep easy but wake up after about an hour feeling worse.

Take care

I didn't sleep well last night. I haven't had a straight 8 hr sleep in years. I wake up to go to the bathroom all night long, can't open my eyes because of dry eye so I'm usually bumping my way to the bathroom. Must have bruised toes by now. I was wide awake from 2:30 till 4. Should just get up because all my tossing probably wakes up my husband. He doesn't sleep well either. 75 yr old rheumy believes if we take a sleeping pill, we will feel better. I am concerned I would not wake up. I think I have sleep apnea and my husband, and thank God brain is waking us up when we stop breathing. I believe it is definitely something in the brain causing this. My head was itching a lot, so I put sesame oil on, and I finally fell asleep. So, it is probably discomfort or pain waking us up. Sleep well tonite everyone! Try. I have been trying to get off iPad early. It is said that could awaken our brains.

Hi there Natura, hope you had bttr sleep last nite. I also spend most of the nighttime hours very restless like many ppl on here, do my best not to jump online.

After reading ur post I'm intrigued about your use of sesame oil -I've never heard of it, is it possible you could explain please?

My bouts of itching drive me insane as sometimes not one thing will works.

Pea top...i am doing ayuverdic self care after going to a lecture at library. I get up every morning and scrape my tongue (suppose to get bad bacteria out of your body), neti pot my nose so that I can breathe. Dry brush my skin and apply sesame oil all over. It is believed to be anti bacterial, anti oxidant, lowers blood pressure, anti inflammatory, anti depressant, natural sunscreen (this is true. Thought I would burn after washing it off...), improves circulation, boost digestive health, promotes respiratory health, relief from arthritis. I wash it off after 15 mins or so. I have been doing this for 3 weeks. I feel somewhat better. The other night I couldn't sleep because my scalp was driving me crazy, put some sesame oil on, and I finally fell asleep. Might want to give it a try. I wanted to post these findings for everyone to see. It might help, it might not. What's to lose? Take care!

Hi Tishie hope you are not feeling too tired. I know what you mean I always seem to do that. I went to bed at 1am then I got up at 5am then at 9am. I am not sure if it is my illness but it can be so annoying when you want to sleep and you can't and when you do not want to sleep you do. Weird but hey that is life I suppose I hope one day the Medical Professionals find a cure. Anyway take care. :)
