Sharp pains in legs

Is anyone else suffering with sharp stabbing pains in the front of their legs and side of hips? Used to my fibro pains but never had this horrible sickly pain. Now into my 4th week. My meds pregablin have been increased with no effect. Any suggestions to ease it very much appreciated. Gentle hugs on a sunny day xx

I have those in my back and it was one of the first signs I had fibro and I agree it is an awful sensation just like someone is knifing you. I must admit the Pregablin has helped with that but only to a certain extent I find that if I move my body more than usual especially stretching for things it starts my spine zinging with the stabbing, burning pains. Like you I can also get them in the hips and sometimes the feet. If they are horrendous I have a long soak in an Epsom salt bath and do gentle stretching and often that seems to ease them. I also try to rest as much as I can as I find if I try to fight through it it seems to get worse. I also try to do something that needs concentration to try and distract me. Soft hugs coming your way as I know what it is like.x

Hi Rose wine. Thank you for replying. Gentle soft hugs back to you too. I'm resting today and will have a nice long soak in an Epsom salt bath later. Stretching sounds good. It's hard to think it will when you are in pain, but I will give it a go. Got some stretches my physio gave me. Hope your pain isn't too bad in your back today. Tedhead xx

Ah thank you for the advice. I'm speaking to my GP on Tues. I'm going to let him know the increased meds haven't worked. Just hope it's nothing else. Hope your having a good day today. Xx

I also get those I agree let your Gp know about any new symptoms. I don't know what you call it in UK but here in states its cymbalta I use it for nerve damage. Gp may want to send you to neurologist.

I have aching in my side legs if I touch them, but this stabbing like pain is in the top of my hips and I sometimes get spasms there. I also have the constant stiffness in my neck and shoulders and sometimes the stabbing pain on the right if I turn my head too much.

I was on gabapentin and it helped a bit with the hips, but I can't take it anymore since it caused me to have jerks in my wrists, ankles and jaw. But it wasn't doing much anyway, either for the pain or anxiety.

I use moist heat and pain meds if necessary. Maybe your doc could try gabapentin for you? If your legs bother you, have you tried lifting them up above your heart so the blood doesn't pool there? It might be causing a bit of swelling you don't even see. Or maybe you could use a referral to a neurologist? (Oh, I see that some of these things have already been recommended)

I also find that gentle self massage helps, and a massage from a therapist is even better.

I hope you find out what the source is, but more importantly what will help you out.

Hi Clarence Hart. Ah thank you so much for your advice. It's nice to know you aren't the only one, even though I wish us all back to health. I know others have mentioned the same things but at least if it helps us all to learn what might work that is a great thing.

Will definitely ask about being referred to a neurologist for further investigation.

I will update everyone on my progress hopefully to help us all.

You look after you n keep in touch. Gentle hugs from Tedhead x

I am so genuinely sorry to read of your suffering and struggling, and I can relate completely to what you have described only I have this in my arms! It is absolutely awful and really drags me down, so you have my complete sympathy.

I always feel that we cannot just assume that a pain is Fibro related and I would keep going back to your GP until you are satisfied with the result. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hi Ken..

Sorry to hear you have got this awful pain in your arms. No one knows what it's like unless they would like to walk a day in our shoes.

Yes going to recharge it up with my GP. Even increased meds haven't helped apart from making me more sleepy.

Will keep you posted on anything new and I do hope it eases off for you too

Gentle hugs and sunny days xxx
