Hi Gemma
Im newly diagnosed too with fibromyalgia. Ive been trying to find out as much as I can about this condition. One piece of advice that I was given yesterday by someone who suffers with this is to do what your body tells you. What works for one person may not work for another.
Keep in touch.
Goodnight
David
That is very true David ... You have to do what your body allows you and when you do too much your body will certainly tell you in a big way ... And the pain and fatigue will show you that you have done too much ... Some people follow certain diets etc ... I say it up to the individual xx
Stay as positive as you can. Try to exercise or stretch daily. Try to get pain management. Find what meds will work for you. Try and keep meds to a minimum. Over time they may need to be adjusted. Also try to keep stress down as much as possible. If you need to vent this is the perfect place to do so. We all understand! Some keep a diary for everything it helps to look back and see how far you have come with dealing with Fibro. It also helps doctors understand your symptoms. Look for ways to do things easier ( electric can openers. Smart phone , anything to help with daily living) . Pay attention to your body it will let you know. I am sure others will come up with other things!
Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I sincerely hope that you find the forum useful, informative and loads of fun!
I personally have a daily physiotherapy routine which is just gentle stretching and turning exercises that I went through with a physiotherapist a couple of years ago. I also cut out certain food stuffs in a rotation to see if there were any correlations?
I find that my pain medications do not always work so I have a TENS Machine which I find very useful. I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
Thank you all for the advise. I am just about to start some pain relief now so hopefully that will help & I will speak to my doctor about some physiotherapy/exercise routine. I will start listening to my body more as I have been tending to ignore the pain/tiredness as I didn't know what it was. Thanks again for making me feel welcome & that I'm not alone in this.
