Arthritis gloves

Morning

I was wondering if anyone has any views on arthritis gloves? I am thinking of getting some to help with osteoarthritis in my hands. Are you able to keep them on throughout the day? Or are they a waste of money.

Thanks

Hi agree. Never thought of trying my doctor. The ones I looked at vary in price from £3.99 to £10. However, thinking if I were to have them on throughout the day they need to be as light and comfortable as possible. You see the more you pay the thicker they seem

thanks

Interesting post. I've been thinking of getting these gloves. I have awful pain and stiffness in my hands and they're always cold - even on a warm summer's day (not that we have had many!).

I spend a lot of time at my laptop typing and my hands are always cold and stiff. I'm hoping some gloves will ease that - the colder they get the stiffer they get and then I get shooting pains. Doc thinks I have arthritis in them so I thought these gloves would help. As you say, anything that makes our lives easier has to be good.

I personally have not tried them but I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck if you decide to give them a go.

Al my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

I have two types which I use. One type is like a very thin material which slightly compresses the hand when you wear them. I don't know whether it is the fact that they make my hands warm or the compression that makes them work.

I also wear hand / wrist braces at night. They are adjusted with Velcro straps and made by Neo G. These stop my fingers curling up and my getting awful hand pain in the morning.

I got both these products via Amazon.

Thank you. I spoke to my occupational therapist about them, however because I have osteoarthritis she explained that they may be more for arthritis. My thumb seems to be very painful also it is out of shape now, so not sure what to do.

Hello,

I have osteoarthritis and they work for me.

Do be guided by a health professional though because they will know what they are talking about.

Best regards,

Dave

I wanted to update this from my previous comment - I ordered some from amazon (they had a huge amount of choice) and they arrived the next day. I found a big difference wearing them - it really eased the pain when I am on my laptop - i.e. using a touchpad and typing. They also helped my grip. I think I will probably get loads of use out of them in the winter months. The ones I got are quite tight, but I can see that they need to be - the compression helps the pain/swelling.
