Having some success...

Hi everyone

Just wanted to mention that I have recently tried Amitriptyline as part of my medication and it has eased the pain quite a bit. I actually sat on the floor and played with my daughter without having to grab some furniture to get up again. The pain is still there but it doesn't feel like someone is drilling in to my bones anymore.

I have only taken them for a few days so it's early doors but I do feel better. I sleep better too. I do feel a bit groggy but I did before anyway. I would rather deal with that and not that awful pain.

Xxx

Tuscany,

Amitriptyline has been the only medication that I can say has really had a good effect on my pain,, I use 25mg daily I was on 75mg a day at one time but it did not work any better than 25mg.

I still have pain but consider the relief this drug has brought a blessing.

Best Wishes, Ray

Hi there Tuscany,

I'm glad that you are finding Amitriptyline useful. I have been taking for some time now and find that it does help with sleep and therefore makes it easier to cope with pain during thie day, not that I sleep through every night by any means, but it does help to some degree, and I wouldn't want to stop taking it and going back to night after night with no sleep at all. I take it conjunction with other pain meds, tramadol, MST and diazepam when needed for muscle spasm.

Foggy x

Hello Tuscany,

I spoke to a locum doctor 2 weeks ago about my pain, and he suggested I try Amitrityline, starting with 10mgs and to increase slowly to 50mgs over a two week period. At the moment I've reached 30mg and it doesn't seem to be helping yet, although I am groggier than normal during the day. By the weekend I shall be trying 50mg, but am worried about how groggy it is making me feel.

I'm pleased it is helping you and I agree I'd prefer grogginess to pain, but at moment I've got both!! Soft hugs to you.

Hi everyone

Thank you for the lovely replies. I'm only on 10mg at the moment. Have been taking it for a few days and it really is helping with the pain. It sends me straight to sleep at night too. The grogginess is quite scary! Have done some weird stuff at work today lol. Feeling very spaced out! Would go through anything to stop that horrible pain though!

Tuscany,

you should get over the grogginess after taking it for a while.

When I first started it I literally couldn't get myself of the bed it was like I was glued down, it was awful !

Best wishes, Ray
