If this is a new symptom you really should seek medical advice, there are indeed some strange symptoms with fibro however there are other reasons for what you describe. All Best Wishes. Lou x

I must admit I'm the same. When I'm tired I'm not sure what I'm saying and just can't seem to get the words out that I need to. I know what I mean (I think) but I don't think anyone else does.

Yes, mine is a side effect of Pregabalin and Nortriptyline but as lou60 says, if it is a new symptom you should have this checked out simply to remove other illnesses removed from the equation.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck

The answer is yes. Yesterday at work I opened my mouth to talk to someone at work and whatever I said made no sense at all, I just couldn't get the words out. A friend of mine always writes down what he says when it comes out wrong. A while ago he sent me a text saying that he had just said to his wife "I am going to cough down and drink this city" what he actually meant to say was "I am going to sit down and drink this coffee." most of what I come out with though makes no sense at all.

Hi, when I've got a flare coming on, I have trouble speaking - sometimes it's just thinking of the right words, but mostly it's trouble making my mouth form the words, like the signal from my brain isnt getting through to mouth.

As others have said, if this is new to u, then best to get checked out by GP, but u are not alone xxx

Sadly this happens to me a lot. It's like the words are playing hide and seek in my head. It even happens when I'm reading bedtime stories to my little monster, the words switch places.

You should definitely speak to a doctor about it, I went to see my doctor about it recently, and whilst after lots of tests the conclusion is its fibro, I was diagnosed with diabetes because of all the tests she did to rule anything else out. If I hadn't been to see her about the speech I'd not have known I was diabetic.

It has been happening to me for so many years that it was just part of my personality that we all laughed about.

It was only when looking up fibro symptoms that it all fell into place.

Dont worry too much it probably is fibro but still mention it to your doctor.

Yes,yes, yes I get this a lot - not just that I can't find the right word but when really bad I can't form the words with my mouth - almost like i 'm slurring at times and don't have control of own mouth and tongue....thought it was some sort of stroke at first - in my case it seems to just be fibro....

I'm the same! But as well as talking jibberish I started to stutter when I couldn't think of a word...:'( :'( then get so frustrated I'd burst into tears!! All family/friends know this now and when I have to speak to someone I don't know, I explain that I have a cognitive impairment and I need them to talk slowly and bear with me when I'm answering!!.... :-D :-D ...much love...ninja... xxx

This happens to me too. Not only do I struggle to think of the right words - my mind just goes blank - but when I have the words in mind they either come out wrongly and slurred or I can't get my mouth to say them at all. It's pretty much the first physical symptom my husband took seriously. He would come in from work and he thought I'd been drinking! I was teetotal!

Yes, I'm just the same. The worst of it is that I can't walk in a straight line either so people definitely think I've been drinking!

When I'm very tired I get so that I can't speak at all.

I thought that was just me! Sometimes I can be standing and need to take a step back/to the side as I feel I'm losing balance to.

I find I have problems talking when my fibro is really playing up, to the point I get worried people think I've been drinking at times. Also get very bad concentration issues/confusion. Really struggle with memory and even writing this out 😞.

Yes, it makes it even worse when people don't understand. Once I fell into one of the freezers at the supermarket and I could hear two women nearby tut-tutting because they thought I'd been drinking. Really I was shocked and badly bruised and needed help. Luckily my partner was in the next aisle.

I can only shop online these days so it won't happen again!
