Fibro & pregnancy

Hi,

I hope everyone is as well as they can be.

Just wanted some advice really. I am 30 now and my hubby and I really want to start a family. We have been putting it off for the last few years because I was training to be a nurse ( had to give up 6 months before qualifying :( ) and because of my health and finances. Now that I have stopped my studies, we really don't want to wait anymore - especially as I have PCOS too and we don't know how difficult it will be for me to conceive.

So basically I have read that none of the meds I am taking are safe whilst pregnant and that I should stop them all before trying to get pregnant.

I also need to try to loose a fair but of weight!

Has anyone else been through this and do you have any advice??

Gentle hugs

Becky xx

Hi beckyglen

I would definitely discuss your medications with your GP prior to trying to conceive to see how to come off them, as many of the drugs used for Fibro have to be reduced gradually. I want to wish you all the best of luck with having a little baby beckyglen!

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Thanks so much Ken! I just hope that I will still be able to look after a baby as well as I would like to.

Thank you again for your kind word and advice xx

No advice but personal experience I got ill while having the first child, my mother wanted me to have an abortion and GP told not to have any more, first son's birth was traumatic but he was fine. Then even though taking precautions six years later I became pregnant again. 20+ years later I have ended up with two amazing gifted men in who are healthy and happy and a joy to be with. Gets lots of help but advice but it can work out. Have to point out that OH was more hands on than me and elder son changed more nappies for his brother than I did. I did also employ help during a day, I kept my sons with me but had a school leaver come in to help.

Hello Beckyglen,

As Ken has mentioned you can talk to your GP about weaning medication etc - I can provide my experiences of being pregnant with Fibro via the link below, if that helps :)

Thank you Emma and Betty67. The info and advice is helpful. I just want to get pregnant now! Am going to see Gp about weaning off meds and am going to get back to swimming to get fitter and try to loose some weight so that I'm in best shape I can be.

Will hopefully post with good news in next few months! :)

Gentle hugs
