Has anybody else had this happen.....

I'm not a regular poster, but a regular reader!

Well last Sunday, I was sitting relaxing on sofa, then my arms and hands went all stiff and more sore. I asked my husband to carry my cup of camomile tea upstairs and to help me up to bed, what a mess I was, couldn't get upstairs, when I did get up my hubby put me on the bed. And I couldn't catch my breath my mouth went all numb and I couldn't speak, I just wanted him to rub my arms but I couldn't tell him. He wanted to phone an ambulance.... I think he was quite scared! I went to the docs and he thought I had an infection and was given steroids and anti biotics. My MIL took me to docs as I was shaking really bad and I still couldn't speak properly I had a stutter??? And couldn't get to my words (this was the next day)

Then yesterday I was extremely shaky again and it nearly all happened again, but my hubby calmed me down this time. Then I slept all afternoon.

I was wondering if this was a panic attack, but what I've read I didn't have chest pains or feel panicked?

Now that this has happened twice I am worried in case it happens in public.

Terri

Yes, I have had this many times over the years, the last time only yesterday. The doc didn't seem worried, puts it down to any one of my myriad conditions. Mine gets so bad that even when I can manage to say a few words they are all goobledegook and my joints and muscles seize up.

I find going straight to bed, no reading or telly, taking painkillers and muscle relaxant and waiting it out works for me. The next day, (like today) I am absolutely washed out.

If you are at all worried then see your doctor, preferably getting him to visit when you are in the throes of symptoms.

I can really empathise, it feels terrible when it happens and you wonder what's next. So frustrating.

Take care

Xx

Sounds scary. Please be careful. I hope you can see a doctor when this is happening.

I am sorry you have had this horrible experience. In my experience a doc who prescribes steroids and antibiotics just like that is - well, lazy. You may have had a panic attack or - you may had a TIA - a kind of mini-stroke that does not leave any impairment or other evidence (as in blood results) once it's over. I have had 2 of those, and what you are saying about not getting to the words sounds to me it could well have been that. I would recommend researching side effects of medication, go back to Doc and ask for a full checkup. When going out, taking safety measures such a mobile phone and hubby's details with you but not letting it stop me from going out.

I had my first one when I was tired and dehydrated after a flight back from Middle East and the second one when I was tired and dehydrated after doing sleepover as carer in an overheated bedroom of client's house. I hope you find peace and relief.

I am so sorry to read that you have experienced this, and I genuinely hope that you feel better now? As many of the others have already said, if it happens again please seek medical attention immediately. Please never assume that everything is Fibro related.

Please take care of yourself
