Hi Tracy,
The rapid pulse can feel overwhelming. I hope you will have the ECG soon?
When I have had a rapid heartbeat, I have needed more fluids. I was slightly dehydrated.
Any chance you are slightly dehydrated?
If we stay hydrated, we have more blood volume and the heart does not have to work so hard to circulate the blood.
My MD had me drink 2 quarts of water in his office on one hot summer day. I had such a rapid heartbeat and my ECG (he had done an ECG) was okay. The extra water took care of it right away.
I am not suggesting you are dehydrated and am not suggesting any amount of fluids to ingest. I am simply relating my experience. If/when it starts with me again, I know I have had too much coffee at Ginsing's morning café and I need to add some water to the mix.
Tracy, I hope you have the ECG and blood work soon. I hope it's something simple.
If you have to wait for testing and medical care, please be careful. Watch for dizziness and other potential problems. I hope you are already at the location of testing. If not, maybe have someone drive you there?
Please do let us know how you are getting on?
Sounds frightening.

Hi m not dehydrated and I drink all the time it's just because my chest keeps going tight so doc just wants to make sure . I'm going next thurs for e c g and bloods x
Hi Tracy,
Glad you and your doctor are on top of it!
The tightness in the chest can be so uncomfortable!
Is the rapid heartbeat intermittent or chronically present?
I am asking because I get an intermittent rapid heartbeat.
Mine is in response to certain foods and scents, usually to food additives and perfumes or cleaning solutions. I am not implying your cause is the same. I am simply sharing.
I hope it's something simple, something that has an easy solution.
Please keep us posted.

when My ME symptoms first started over a year ago my stupid dr put me on betablockers which made it worse. I kept feeling like I was about to have a heart attack.(very scary)! eventually it calmed down but my dr sent me to the hospital to have a 24hr montior fitted as he was not sure if my heart was functioning normally. I did keep going dizzy. Eventually my heart beat did slow down on it's own.
Hi Tracysnow,
I've had a rapid pulse for some time as well. Mine has been attributed to my Type 2 Diabetes and mild heart issue even though I have Fibro.
I will be really interested to find out if there is a link as I'm losing faith somewhat in my health professionals.
Hope all goes well with your ECG - I'm glad they're following it up. Do keep us informed ok.
All the very best.
Thanks yeah hope they can find what is causing it . Hate this disease getting more things wrong now x
I am so sorry to read that you are experiencing this issue, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to the problem. Your pulse could be racing for quite a few different reasons, and I would not worry too much until you have your ECG as it could be something simple?
I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck
Ken
I have the blood pressure of a 60 year old. I'm 30. Doc taking it seriously ECG and ultrasound of heart n kidney back as fine:
Was born with hole in heart.
On blood pressure meds Amlopadine n ramipril with another cardiology app at Mary's roehampton in 3 weeks.
Yeaterday read an article about prediabetes and PTSD.
I'm highly at risk as dad has it, high bp, being African descent.
Apparently one symptom is fatigue.
Going to ask for glucose test n hope I have a more set in stone diagnosis.
Fibro seems so damn wishy washy tho it's so debilitating!!!
Did anything come of the ECG?
