...I saw Dr Grimm today, the single most miserable man on planet earth. It was however the most productive drs appointment in the three years since diagnosis, now that's a lot of appointments.
He seemed quite disgusted about the fact I've been prescribed so many painkillers, especially seen as I hallucinate on them.
I then mentioned ME, he nodded and continued to prescribe me a low dose of pregabalin, the drug my consultant recommended (also a miserable man) three long years ago. I got the impression it was, yes you may well be suffering from that, but lets not focus on giving names to illnesses, lets get you sorted.
So while I am extremely sensitive to medication and worried about the side effects, I am looking forward to a hopeful and brighter future.
I would like to thank everyone for their support on my last post
I will of course keep you updated, I need to wait until I get paid Thursday before I can afford my prescription, but then it's all systems go! Until then, here's how I prepared for my drs appointment:
Hi Karen I am pleased you feel better about every thing. I take pregabalin and it has helped no end So good luck with it and why not keep just popping in and out more often it is lovely to see you on the board.
I plan to spend a lot more time on the forum as it's really helped me the last few days. I'm also sending lots more people our way through the benefits info I send out so hopefully we'll get even more busy.
Have a lovely day x
It sound like Dr Grimm lives up to his name. So glad that you are now getting help
Hi Kaz
I missed your last post but am pleased........... despite how Grimm.......... that you have made some headway hunny
Hopefully you shall see some positive progress soon with controlling the pain
To help you recover from your exhausting morning I'm sending fluffies round with Hot Choc and your favourite muffin............ which is?????
Like your thinking re eclair! Nice dainty looking tea cup, I'm too much like Hyacinth 'Bouquet' s neighbour to drink out of pretty, dainty tea cups - I'll have mine in my usual mug please! Julie xx
Ah right, then I shall be happy to join with you in your prep before appt! Also, after appt with gp's like your dear old Dr Grimm, could I suggest something similar for AFTER the appt?
Hi I think it's arful you have to wait to take your meds till you get paid ,you should move to wales ,at least we get free prescriptions one less thing to think about x good luck.
I spent plenty of time in Wales as a kid (in Rhyl) on holiday where all 90's brummie kids went on holiday. Now I'm in Brighton Wales is a bit far away!
I'm furious about the ever increasing cost of prescriptions but as the government says '90% of people don't pay so that's ok'. Grrrr.
Still, hopefully this £8.15 will result in me feeling much better, and therefore be the best 8 quid ever spent
My son moved to brighton for work 5 years ago ,he has now decided it's to expensive to live there and is looking at moving back to Wales in September when his lease runs out ,and your right it's to far from home as it can take 9 hours by train to get to me by train and 5 hours by car and I can't cope with the drive ,good luck with your treatment hope everything goes well . Xx
That's what's so daft about it. It must cost such a lot of money and effort to collect that little bit and it doesn't deter people who insist on unnecessary medication, just hurts those who need it badly.
Hi, well done for keeping positive in whats a horrible condition .
It was your last a&e ranch that's really made me respond.
I ended up signing up for the monthly payment option for prescriptions at £10.50 per month.
I was having upto 6-7 different tablets per to existing me a fortune. It also helps when you might red a prescription for a non connected illness and might need antibiotics etc.
It's definately worth thinking about, and will mean you don't have to wait until payday should u need a prescription.
Take care, and keep a diary whilst your taking pregablin. I couldn't remember how to use the washing machine and cooker it had that weird effect on me.
Keeping a diary is a good idea, I'll do that. I'm starting on 25mg three times a day so hopefully not too much can go wrong. Although I did attempt to clean my teeth earlier with my cup of tea so maybe I won't notice a difference!!
