Black mold & fibro...

Good morning everyone! I've recently read up on mold, especially black mold could be something that can make Fibromyalgia start. I've had fibro for about 10 yrs. Just before I was diagnosed with it I was living in a house that had kinds of mold in it. We didn't know this until I started getting really sick & got thinking about the mobile home... It had been flooded a couple of times underneath it & it was just dirt underneath. So mold grew & grew. Fast forward to the present... My fibro is out of control, muscles, numbness/tingling, short term memory - awful! Insomnia, totally exhausted & so much more. There's some tests (blood, eye & urine) that can be done to check for mold in your body. I'm going to check with my rheumatologist about this & see if it's something she can help me with. If not I'll probably have to go to a Naturopath. Anyone else have any experience with this mold & fibro. I just want to feel somewhat better & if this can be the link at least for me then I'll try to get that crap out of my body! Gentle hugs to all of you xoxoxo

I have to agree with you. I manage an apartment complex and I started to be I'll when I came acrods old in one of the units behind the back splash in kitchen from a flood.

I realized later when I started having muscles spading on me and all weird changes with my body and mind that??what did idi different.

Then I saw an article on black mold and the muscles..I was shocked. However the Fibromyalgia did progress to massive muscle spasm and memory lapses yo the point I didn't want to do anything .

Today I at least know it's fibro which I was happy to hear because knowing it don't affect any organs made me at ease a little.everyone is different and each day for me is a struggle but I'll continue to persevere at it until I find something that works. I hope this eases your mind a bit

I'm sending you gentle hugs and warm wishes to soothe your soul.

That's awful. It must be in those of us who can be prone to developing fibro I think. I had a teacher who had mold in her bedroom closets and got pneumonia, but didn't develop fibro. Guess it's different for each one of us, but mold is very dangerous for anyone, especially those with respiratory problems.

Some of the homes in my neighborhood smell modly when I walk by them. I don't know how people can live in them!

Hi spiritualgirlygirl

I am so sorry to read this and I must admit that it is the first time I have come across it. I am susceptible to mold as I suffer with asthma and COPD and it quickly causes breathing issues.

I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck with this issue.

All my hopes and dreams for you

This is something that worries me, we live in a very old house - just pre-Victorian - and Hubby had had a course of damp proofing before I moved in, 25years ago, think we need to have it redone - damp patches keep appearing on the walls that are outside facing walls and now we've had to move a bookcase to get at the phone connection as our internet and phone got affected by damp and mould, I can't keep up with it, clearing it away as it appears, at least the bookcase is only an IKEA chipboard that can be replaced, thank goodness it wasn't too heavy too move and easily dismantled! Just got to get the last of the damp cleared then we can redo the wallpaper, then it's just the condensation in the downstairs bathroom to sort out! Wears me out just thinking about it!

I have would never of put mold and fibro together, but now you mention

it my fibro got worse about 3 years ago when we had a new roof but on the house they put the felt on wrong and ever since my house has been damp

and moldy, but I would be interested in what your rheumatologist says

about it ?

I live in a flat which has black mould all over one side of it! Never put the two together! No point cleaning it off cos it even comes back after redecorating!
