Something Odd...

This happened when I was 6 then again at 9 and once more at 10. One morning I couldn't walk. When I tried to out weight on my legs they would crumble. No pain, and I could feel them, but not a lot of movement if I can remember. I tried getting out of bed but I couldn't stand, I just flopped to the floor. I stayed home that day. My mother thought I was just making it up so I wouldn't have to go to school, but I wasn't. About 8 hours later I was able to stand again, kind of and slightly walk. That night I was completely back to normal. That happened again in the middle of the night a few years later and I think my legs felt like pins and needles it was really weird and scary. But by morning I was fine. Then it happened again a few more years later and that was the whole day thing.

Any suggestions on what causing my legs not being to support my body then being able to again?

You should get this checked out at A&E at the time it happens. They will be better able to gauge what is happening as it's happening. Wishing you well. Lou x

Have you ever had your B12 checked?

I have had a couple of instances of this and I was told it was stress. I denied strongly that I was under pressure and genuinely believed there was something physical going on.

I had a battery of tests including MRI and have very reluctantly come to the conclusion it is psychological, (and I hate that) It was explained that I did not do this consciously, nor to attract attention, it was because I was suppressing my emotions, which is unhealthy, so my subconscious took over and manifested these symptoms to make me take more care of myself and get me out of a stressful situation.

It was hard to believe as I thought maybe I was going mad.

I still have trouble with feeling numb down one side, usually the right, and my leg is very weak, so I take a mental step back and think what has triggered it, there is usually an underlying problem with a family member or pressure to do something I don't want to. Once I acknowledge it, and find a resolution, I start to get better.

It is a recognised thing that stress etc can cause physical conditions like rashes and migraines as well.

If this does not ring a bell with you then I would advise you to see your GP.

Hi Amazing101

I am so sorry to read that this had happened to you and I agree with lou60, you really should get this checked at A&E if it happens again, just to rule out other things.

Take care
