Hi im newly diagnosed with FM and I think it was still a shock even though I suspect it. Im just so confused and feel worse for knowing I have it. Could that be the shock and when I come to terms with it willnit possibly calm down.

Dont know which way to turn
Hi there
I felt the same way when I finally got my diagnosis after years of thinking I must be a hypochondriac, even though my pain and symptoms were very real.
I too was confused and in a way angry too.
I'm sure you'll get lots of other comments saying the same thing.
Coming to terms with it was the difficult bit for me and I'm still struggling with it to be honest. Probably not want you what to hear but I think honesty is always best!
I hope things start to become a bit clearer for you very soon.
Xx
Hello and welcome to the site. sorry that you have been diagnosed with this horrid illness, but at least now that you know for sure that you have fibro you can start to get better treatment and start to learn how to cope.
A lot of our fellow members have found that pain clinic helps them and asking for a referral from your GP may be a good place to start.
what i think is that most important thing to learn is how to pace yourself so that you dont overdo things. That means taking life easier than you are used to and spending more time just relaxing.
Others will be able to explain it better than i can.
I dont know if you have been onto our mother site yet. There you will find lots of information about fibro its treatments symptoms and about claiming benefits. Here is the link..fibroaction.org
You can always come back to us later for a chat or to ask questions.
I hope to see you around.
Hugs sue xx

Hi, was diagnosed just over a year ago and it was a relief to have a diagnoses. I have found it a lot easier to come to terms with mostly due to this forum. I have armed myself with information and then found lovely fellow sufferers who have proved to be a real blessing. On here they support and offer humour and company if you just need a little moan. So welcome, and I hope you get as much out of it as I do

I think any diagnosis can be a bit of a smack in the head at first and it takes a bit of time for it to sink in.
In reality it is what it is and now that you know you can start to learn and to do what is best for you health wise.
Best Wishes, Ray
