Hi folks

I haven't posted on here for a while but I do pop by and read some of the posts. I'm normally on the bus on the way to work, then I lose the signal.

Anyway last time I posted I had decided to give up dairy to see if it would help my symptoms. I am of the opinion that I will try anything that 'may' help with the pain. Sadly giving up dairy didn't help at all. I gave it 6 weeks which I think is a fair time. I can't say that my pain increased or decreased and I managed to lose a stone. I am now back on dairy and being very careful with it.

For the last few days i have been getting the oh too familiar signs that a flare-up is coming. I've had a couple of minor episodes with tight pain and burning in my hips etc and I just know that in the near future I am likely to get another flare-up.

I found out about a course to help people with a long-term condition to cope with their problem. It's a FREE six-week course, on a Thursday or Friday for 3 hours. I have told my boss about it and he is keen for me to go and has told me I can take the time and not use up my leave. It is run by selfmanagement uk. They are on Facebook, Twitter (@SelfManageUK) and the website is selfmanagementuk.org.

They run courses all over the country and the lady I spoke to was very friendly and helpful.

My meds have been increased yet again after a terrible flare-up that affected my left side mostly. I honestly thought I had had a stroke. I couldn't move my arm, my leg felt wooden and my face was tight. The doctor told me it was parasthesia. it wasn't nice and I don't want to go through that again.

That's enough waffling from me, I hope you are all as well as you can be.

Gentle hugs

Thanks for sharing that, I presume there is a charge couldn't quite see if there was on their website. Is it similar to the Expert Patients programme that the NHS run in my area?

Hello Deebee17,

Thank You for sharing this as it may be helpful for other members.

As it is a free course to those attending, do the local health authority pay for the course to be run in their area?

How do you find out where the course will be run next, do they have a list of dates, times and venues ?

I look forward to hearing from you

Best Wishes

Emma :)
