Morning Bernadette,

You have quite a problem there- have you considered cutting up credit cards so you cannot use them!

Take a friend with you when you shop to whom you have told about your problem ask her just to keep an eye on what you do.

Have you ever used complementary meds? I was thinking that hypnosis might help but I am not sure because of demetia.

I hope this may help a little taecare

Hi Bernadette, I agree completely with gins about cutting up your credit/debit cards or perhaps handing them over to hubby so that he can monitor your spending if it is becoming a big problem which is sounds like it is. It must be so hard for you and I am sending lots and lots of positive thoughts your way :-)

Hi Bernadette,

have you checked the side effects of some of your medications? I know that Ropinerole has altered behaviour as a side effect on some people. Also follow the suggestions you have already received.

Gentle hugs

Dear Bernadette you have made the first giant step to helping yourself with the problem by recognising you have one as many people don't until it is too late. Gins advice is excellent about either cutting up your cards or having hubby have control of them. Don't have any catalogues and only look on the internet shopping sites if you really need something. Perhaps you could ask your husband to have control of your money and just give you a small sum each week to spend as you might find you get as much enjoyment out of buying small things than big expensive things. Let us know how you get on. Big hugsx

Hi bernie

I am so sorry to read that you are spending too much money, but I think you have been given lots of good advice.

Cut up your credit cards

Take somebody shopping with you

Let your husband look after the money.

It will help you lots.

Take care

I found that antidepressants made me spend too much and not having credit cards did not help I just asked shops to put things by for me. However cash does make you realise how much you are spending. Try to find a different solution for the great feeling you get by shopping, or look for cheaper alternatives. Acknowledging is the first step.
