hello to all my fibro friends can you help, different pain in knees and hips all so swelling in left knee only

as you know i was diagnosed with fibro last september, im now having a issue with my knees and hips not sure what it could be. had blood test and xrays last year to rule out ra . left knee first, every time i do some extra walking it gets swollen to month ago i had a lot of fluid removed . two week ago the knee was swollen again and tight and painful after doing extra walking no fluidn, iv had two injections into the knee now and not sure what it could be i asked my gp and he said we will have to wait and see any ideas. as for the hip sudden shape pain and gone right knee also starting to be painful on and off but not swollen any thought would love to hear from you all gentle hugs angela

Hi Angela

I sorry to read of your problems with swelling, it is one of the most awkward things to identify. As you say you find yourself doing bloods and test to eliminate things. I too have been down this path and now I am care in the community this makes my GP laugh.

So sorry I have no ready solutions, but I think the more you cancel out the better!

I am so sorry to read that you are suffering in this way, and I genuinely hope that your GP can find the answers that you desire and deserve. Unfortunately it could be as a result of so many differing issues that it really is impossible to say what it may be?

My knees swell and go a pinky / red colour, but this is due to arthritis, and also, my hip gives me terrible pain but this is due to sciatic nerve damage, and when it hurts, it can go all the way down to my right foot!

I genuinely hope that you can get a definitive diagnosis and so be able to start some kind of treatments for the problems.

You should have an MRI to rule out other things. I have Fibro, along with many other health issues. Hope this helps sweetheart!!! xxxx Mitzi

I would have to say that anybody with an existing condition (for us Fibro) is more likely to contract other illnesses as a result of being ill in the first place, as being ill makes you more susceptible to other conditions.
