Does anyone get eye problems with fybromyralgia not just when suffering fatique.
One of my eyes especially feels like continuous pressure pushing it in some days, visions blurred and its painful.
I've had 3 new sets of glasses during the last two years none have made a difference. I've seen different opticians. One tried to blame my diabetes but i had my eye check fir diabetes and there was no change and my diabetes is controlled, the diabetes clinic said it wasn't the reason.
The gp originally blamed my glasses, which have now been changed. The second optician said it could be inflammation of nerves caused by fybromyralgia.
Another doctor said it was caused by migraine caused by fybromyralgia.
Now two years later I've no idea what to do and its effecting my work.
Ive now been off work a total of 18 months in the last two years related to fybromyralgia its been my eyes, fatigue, pain, costochondritis. I am just lost as what to do.

Hello, I am sorry to read what’s happening to you , I am glad you have had all the checks, I read some fibro sufferers do suffer with headaches, migranes, pain at the back of the eyes, very frustrating when it’s affecting your work. It might well be imflamation due to fibro, I’m wondering if your doctor could refer you to an eye specialist as you say you have been too opticians and have some more thorough checks done, just a thought x
Hi, how would you describe your neck and its connection to the sides and back of your head and shoulders, particularly symmetry and turning your head. When you close your eyes and relax and focus on the central point above the bridge of your nose, how does your neck feel? Xx
Good point. Tension in the sternokleidomastoid muscles can cause all sorts of head symptoms including the eyes. Since one bit of it joins on to the breast bone and one onto the collar bone , it can affect that end too.
Hi yes I suffer from eye pain as well sometimes it's stabbing, sometimes it's blurry, sometimes it's really painful at the back of my eyes it's hard to explain but it's really sore, then there's the twitching that's so annoying. I'm sorry I'm just rambling here. Hope you feeling a wee bit better soon. Gentle hugs xx
Hi thankyou for answering me it amazes me that complete strangers understand and are so kind when my family think it's a competition to see who's got the sorest bits it's driving me mad. Xx
Hi thankyou so much for being so kind and understanding I just wish my family members understood my varied symptoms and how low it all makes me feel there's times I wish I wasn't here then they could all get on with their sore bits and not have me to compare with. It's so unfair, I'm sorry I've just " bugged yer nut" but thankyou for listening. Gentle hugs and take care.xx
Hi, like you i have the pressure pain very bad in my eyes as well has my head. I was sent for a lumber puncture to measure the pressure. It should be around 9 mine was 27, not a dangerous level but it helped when the pressure was realesd. It is starting again so i do belive the pressure is building upagain. My eye also droops when having my attacks.
Thank you for your reply . I have mentioned the pressure issue gp before and about releasing it after reading about some one else about 18 months ago but gp dismissed it. Hope you get yours sorted xx
Hi 👋 sorry to hear of your eye problems. I too have had dry eyes before my fibromyalgia diagnosis. I also out of the blue had a torn retina & twelve months later a cataract op. My rheumatologist said you can get eye problems with fibromyalgia & suggested I use drops for dry eyes. My eyes actually water a lot so didn’t think they were dry but my optician confirmed it. Hope this helps & wish you well.
Finally I’d like to take my hat off to those of you who work as I am retired & don’t know how you manage with the many symptoms & still work. Have a good day all if you can 🤗
Thank-you for taking time to reply. Dry eyes have been mentioned and use eyes drops and a warm eye mask but they dont help. Work is very hard i do 4 on 4off 9.5 hour nights more and more things seam to be interfering
