question about PIP payments, child tax credits, other benefits etc and pip assessment face to face.

I finally after 9 months had my PIP face to face meeting today. Now just to wait the out come. My question is, would this benefit be taken into account as an income, so child tax credits will be reduced. Also is it worth my husband claiming carers, I know this is taken as an income so probably not worth claiming for.

I also wondered how everyone else got on with there pip claim and meeting. I felt I didn't tell him nearly enough about how fibro effects me and after researching this above question, it states all manner of things that should be said and verified at this meeting and in my eyes was not, so probably not going to qualify for pip anyway :(

Hello, First PIP is given to help with the extra cost of being disabled and is not counted as income. sorry i cant help with your question about carers allowance.

Try not to worry too much about how the interview went they may have enough evidence in writing and doctors reports. so only needed verification about a few things and I know its a pest but you can always appeal .

Hope all goes well. :) Hugs sue x

Hi sdanjc11

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? PIP is a non-taxable benefit so it should not, interfere at all with other benefits, as mayrose54 says.

Goo luck with your claim

Ken

Your right, ive worried every day for nine months, what to say and when is the meeting going to ever happen. Now im worrying about if I said enough and if he was trying to catch me out at all. Trying to let it be and wait patiently for the outcome. xx

Hi ,you have done the most now you just need to wait on outcome as said its not a taxable income so that bit is good ,sorry cant help with carers allowance because I don't know anything about it . I was worried about interview ,I thought I didn't say enough, but as said I think its just to verify all that you have said ect . I thought my lady was very nice but as wary after reading stuff that they were trying to twist or catch me out in someway.on hindsight I know I was wrong ,I was awarded higher care component and they agreed with all dr and other reports that had been submitted,Keep your chin up its nearly over ,and I would also say if you don't get it you don't go straight to appeal you ask for a reconsideration first hope this helps .

im relieved its over, so that's a weight off, now got to stop over thinking it and worrying, thanks for the tip about appealing, I didn't know you could ask for a reconsideration. I cant see why I wouldn't get it, I defo do not lead a "normal" life but then again, it all goes on what they think they have gathered about me I guess. Will just have to wait and see and try to relax and put it to the back of my mind....thanks everyone xxx

From what my paperwork showed, the esa is given in amounts, then pip is used as an income and deducted from the first esa, subtotal, then another bit is added on, then you get your pip, and esa is less pip, i think that is how it works?? I have a carer, who get the carers allowance, paid to him, but he is no relative or such to me, get your husband to apply, and be calm about it. As mayrose54 said, be calm, they get a good look at you as you enter and how you go about sitting down and react, and respond. How you have answered the questions, and what you asked is not forgotten, and your doctors have provided all the medical treatment details, and their reports are not ignored, they see you as the patient you are and how you cope with the conditions you have, sometimes I think the face to face, medical appointments are just to put what is reported into view, i.e you arriving in the room and getting from door to chair, and looking at your face to show reactions, don't get all stressed out, be calm and then feel that the report will arrive when it's ready, stress makes things worse.
