My doctor has tried most pain killers on me and they all make me projectile vomit :-( except paracetamol which believe it or not makes me fall asleep within half an hour of taking. anti depressants don't work at all. is there anything else I could be taking?

Hi philippa47

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I am so sorry to read that you have been projectile vomiting after using pain killers. I was wondering if your GP has shed any light on why this is happening to you? Does he suspect an allergy? A hernia? Or stomach ulcer? I think if I were you I would discuss this issue with my GP to ascertain why it is happening?

There are other medications that you could discuss with your GP, such as Gabapentin or Pregabalin? There are other that you could look up on NHS Choces I have pasted you links about them to the NHS Choices website:

nhs.uk/medicine-guides/page...

nhs.uk/medicine-guides/page...

I have also pasted you the FibroAction page link pertaining to Fibro medications, so I hope that you find this useful:

I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue.

It's so frustrating isn't when there's so little you can tolerate. Have you tried tramadol? Works a bit for me but makes me dizzy til I got used to it.

I have been unable to tolerate pain relief meds as most of them make me feel very sick and just knock me out for hours. I'm the same as you with paracetamol! However, I too can tolerate Tramadol. I have the slow release capsules and at present I'm on 50mgs twice a day, though I think I need to up the dose as my body is get ting used to the low dose, which is often the case.Hope you get some relief soon xx

i wear a fentanyl patch. works pretty good and without all the side effects because doesn't have to be swallowed. i know one needs to be careful to make sure to use only the "real" fentanyl patch and not the generic which there are some problems with.

What are you taking the pain med's for? If it's Fibro then I'm a lot like you. I take a medicine for the nausea and the pain med's that work the best for me. I used to be able to take a lot of medicine's that now I'm allergic to or the side effects are worse than the pain. Hope this helps!!!

I was going to suggesttrying Pregablin too as you can start at a very low dose of 25mg and slowly increase. If you have patches of pain and it is more neuropathic in nature I find that Versatis (Lidocaine) plasters help. I do hope you can find something that suits youx

Ask your doctor about Soma muscle relaxer. It is a really good pain reliever that helps to deal different pain. But the important thing about the pill is that it should be prescribed by the doctors otherwise it might give you some negative result. But normally that doesn't happen if you take the pills according to doctor's guidelines. So ask your doctor about it.
