That's fantastic new! a weight off your mind, if you don't mind me asking what part of the country are you in? I live in the south east and posted mine off last Friday.

Thank you :)

hamble, I got a lot of info., from the work and benefit site.

Mazz, I'm in North Wales, hence having Capita, as think they just do NW and Wales.

I'm very relieved and can take some work from my dear hubby who's 63yrs and diabetic :)

Applying for a Blue Badge was fun! They want passport, picture n copy of PIP letter, which had to be officially certified lol. Anyway that's in post now.

Good luck all with this very cruel system hugs x

Ooh, I'm in North Wales too Magenta....is Capita the company that deals with us then?? X

in reply to sue32

Yes Sue it's Capita here. I'm just off the old coast road before you get to Prestatyn :) x

I'm in Flint!! I didn't think we had to claim PIP until 2015, that's what they told me in my letter anyway....but it does seem that Capita may be a little more caring than ATOS eh?? XX

in reply to sue32

Are you on DLA now, maybe that's why they've said you can't claim until 2015? I wasn't on DLA and applied straight for PIP. Yes Capita were definitely more 'caring' than the ATOS lot....I got turned down in 2012 for DLA and went to a tribunal and still got turned down! x

Yes, my DLA was awarded indefinitely, middle rate care, high rate mobility back in 2007 so I'll wait with baited breath for the dreaded brown envelope!!! I'm glad you found Capita better than ATOS....why should we be subjected to a grilling by people who don't know us and are, more often than not, not health professionals?? Happy Easter!! XXXX

Are we still howling at the moon? Sophie said it made her worse. :P :P

Haha, my cats get Moon madness. I've taken some pics of her through the trees, may go out later when she's moved round a bit, for better ones :P

Hi Magenta

I am so pleased for you, especially as you were previously turned at the DLA appeal. Maybe PIP be points scored might be a better system

Great news! Does not take it away but at least you have some money to ease your way.

Hi did you have to go for a medical

Congratulations. However I just feel that to make a human being who is suffering pain and anxiety wait for 7 months is INHUMAN!! There got that off my chest.

I am attending a demonstration in London on the 21st June to protest against the 'austerity' policies.

National Demonstration and Free Festival

Saturday 21 June 2014

No More Austerity | Demand the Alternative

Assemble 1pm, BBC HQ, Portland Place, London W1 1AA

March to Parliament

I have NEVER demonstrated before about anything but could not stop myself over this. I am having to give up my well paid teaching job as I simply cannot do all that is required of my role, and will then have to sign on for JSA?? It's SICK. I am ill, but not deemed ill enough for sickness benefits?? The irony; if it was not so serious it would be FUNNY.

What do you mean 'through Capita'? Can you explain to me please?

xx

Thanks all :)

Shazzap, yes I think the point system is better and much easier.

Jeannie, glad you feel better for getting it off your chest lol I'm in a Fibro UK group on FaceBook and some applied last June and still haven't been assessed!

If you're on FaceBook Jeannie, I hope you're posting about the demo and putting it on Twitter? If you want to connect via FaceBook my name is Denise Kneale.

I do lots of online petitions, but can no longer go to demos. I used to be an active member of CND and Greenpeace, think Greenham Common Women ;) I'm still a member of both, but can only participate online now.

Capita is another company like ATOS, who do the assessments, I think they cover the NW and Wales, (I'm in Wales) x

Tasha, yes you have to have a medical, which they call an assessment, you have a choice on the form to have a home visit too, rather than you trekking to them. Mine lasted 2.5hrs mainly answering questions and telling her about my day to day life, then just a quick look to see how you walk or whatever is your problem, take your BP lol mine was off the scale, about 275 and that's it. I would always go for the home visit, so that the assessor is on 'your turf' so to speak x

In January, it will be a year since I claimed... It's disgusting what I have had to go through, cancelling several appointments, sending me miles away for my medical etc etc... But there's no point in me moaning, what will be will be ! Hopefully I'm all don't now and just waiting for the decision... Anyone know long it takes from assessment to payment ?

I was awarded Advance Rate for both after a 10 month wait and changing from DLA, backdated to September last year was very relieved, had my assessment with Capita and lied through her teeth on her report, but made a complaint to the Claim manager and contacted my MP and direct contact with the Office Dispute Manager even gave me her direct number to get it resolved
