Hi I'm new to this site but not to health unlocked as I have chronic kidney disease, it is hard to know which condition causes what pain. Does anyone have lactic acid muscle pain when they do any activity?

Hi boycie

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I am so sorry to read that you have this problem and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue.

I do not suffer anything of this nature (that I am aware of?), but I can imagine that it is very unpleasant? I have found a link about the problem of exercising and the build of lactic acidosis, and I really hope that it is of some use to you:

webmd.com/fitness-exercise/...

I genuinely hope that you can find the answers that you are looking for?

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hi. I get lactic acid build up very quickly in my upper arms and shoulders when i start doing any exercise. I have discovered that i don't breathe anywhere near effectively enough and that breathing hard, almost panting, when it happens, clears the lactic acid very quickly allowing me to continue exercising without stopping. I use exercise as my main form of pain management for fms but encounter the same problem just in normal life when i try to walk or carry anything. Breathing deeply in and out does seem to help. Hope it doesn't sound too stupid!

Thank you for your reply, no it doesn't, sound stupid, in fact it has made me think, maybe it is related to oxygen, I will do some investigation. Once again thanks

In the same line of thought, have you had your iron levels checked recently? anaemia will affect oxygen transport so causing muscle weakness and fatigue. Anaemia can also make you out of breath and cause palpitations for the same reason making the breathing concept harder to practice. If you any of this sounds familiar then it may well be worth asking your GP for a blood test.

Hello Boycie,

I personally do not experience this problem and have not heard of this in relation to Fibro. However, this has been discussed in ME/CFS although I am unsure if any of these research findings have been confirmed as yet.....

How long it lasts in CFS/ME patients who have excessive lactate after very little exercise is unknown. For some CFS/ME patients, just standing up for 10 minutes is enough to create this problem

masscfids.org/resource-libr...

ME/CFS & Fibro have symptoms which can be synonymous and some people can have one or the other and sometimes both conditions.

Obviously I am not a Doctor and you should always speak to your healthcare professionals before any diagnosis can be made. All research of both these conditions remain ongoing so these findings cannot be fully eliminated in Fibro without research in this area which I am not aware of at this time. If I find anything I'll post it here for you

I hope you find this of interest

Best Wishes

Emma :)
