Hi there

My last few blood tests have shown that I am too low in Folate and so I was put on Folic Acid tablets too.

I have to say they made me feel less shaky than I had been.

Wishing you a peaceful day

Lu xx

Hi gloglo

I am so genuinely sorry to read this my friend, and it is not something that I have been diagnosed with. I have pasted below an excerpt from the *MedLine cache:

*Folic acid is used to treat or prevent folic acid deficiency. It is a B-complex vitamin needed by the body to manufacture red blood cells. A deficiency of this vitamin causes certain types of anemia (low red blood cell count).

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

I also have sickle cell disease which is a bloody disorder and I have to take folic acid occasionally and high dose vit D also. You may not notice a change with the folic acid but it will be doing something. It takes a while for levels to be replenished especially if your levels were very low.

Hopefully you will notice a difference soon. I would recommend vit D also. Just over the counter dose unless your levels are very low. It really does make a difference.

All the best.

Thank you Ednu 16, I'm not allowed to take Vit D at the moment, due to my INR not being stable but I do need to take it. Was told to stay off it until they get my bloods stable then they will see. I want to take Tumeric but will see if I can today when i go to clinic. Thanks for replying x

I hope your bloods stabilise. It might be worth checking if you can take a vit B complex if the INR doesn't stabilise .

All the best

Been told to stay off the multi vita for the time been. I asked if I could take Tumric but been told it most likely would send my INR out of range cause I'm just in my range. Oh well!

one step at a time it is then! Hopefully now INR is in range things will continue to improve! All the best

Hi yes they found mine was low while back so put me on it for a while not sure how/what it is now as no follow up yet?

But did ask Quack she said was ok before though!

You have to go for another blood test to see if things are back to normal. Fibromyalgia the illness that just keeps on giving. Lol

Have a good love and thanks xx

You might have the MTHFR gene. It means that folic acid can't be synthesized properly.

I take methyl folate instead.
