Has anyone had low lymphocyte count when having a blood test?
Hi Kirby
I am so sorry to read that you are worried by your blood test results. It is a strange coincidence that you have brought this up as it was one of the topics that came up in my wife's MS Awareness group today. It appears that it is connected to many illnesses and complaints but not one in particular. It also appears to be connected from anything from a low immune system to bone marrow problems (but please do not worry until you know how bad yours is?).
I am left with the impression that having a low lymphocyte count can lead to anemia and lupus type illnesses but is a symptom of the more serious illnesses, so it depends on what other health issues you have?
I have pasted you a direct link to the New Health Guide website that tells you everything you need to know about a low lymphocyte count:

I genuinely hope that this and / or your GP can help put your mind at ease and that you do not have anything more underlined affecting your health.
All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi Kirby
I have only recently been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, after 18 months of what I felt was hell I finally have a diagnoses and treatment.
Leading up to my diagnosis I was sent to several specialist consultants. One being a haematologist. I had a low lymphocyte count on several tests, I also had enlarged red cells.
Not 100% sure that it's linked but sounds like it could be to me.
Hope your ok.

Thanks Sam. I only know because I asked for the blood test results. But it states the reason is 'differential white cell count and then under that Normal - No Action Needed although it is slightly paler type to alert that it's outside the range. I think I need to speak to the doctor about it. K xx
Hello Sammyj1985,
Welcome to the FibroAction Community!
As far as I am aware (no FibroAction hat on) there has been no confirmed research on key findings on RBC or WBC in regards to Fibro. However, there has been some research about RBC irregular shape in ME/CFS and therefore the inability to function properly in the transportation of Oxygen etc....
In regards WBC they are normally raised due to infection as you know and Fibro is often triggered by acute viral illness where they would be raised. I have heard of times when WBC are low post (after) infection and subsequent testing for other conditions has been negative. Conclusion no known reason for the WBC to be low. You may be susceptible to infections due to the WBC being low, however saying this I think we all tend to catch all things going and usually have worse symptoms than the healthy people we have caught it from?!?!
I hope you find this interesting and if you would like any evidence based information on Fibro please do check out the website fibroaction.org
Best Wishes

I didn't have any infection when my WBC back low. Well, it was the lymphocyte count which was low but above that it a further explanation stating that Differential White Cell Count is normal, and with a figure, and saying no action needed. It is all confusing. I have an appointment with my GP later this month so will discuss with her then
