Hi Melissa and welcome to our forum. We are a friendly bunch with lots of experience and advice to help support you with.

If you go to fibroaction.org you will find lots and lots of very useful information.

It must be very stressful for you to have to deal with your children who also have problems of their own, and I can completely understand, that even just having to cope with that would be very difficult and draining, but with fibro in the mix too, it must be particularly hard,

Could I ask what meds your doctor gave you? You could always ask to be referred to a pain clinic or even to a rheumatologist who may be better informed than your own doctor.

I am sending lots and lots of positive healing vibes your way, and I am sure that other members here will come and support you in what ever way they can :-)

Hi meliissa, just saw your message, and wanted to try and help. My sister has two children, (23 and 12) who both are autistic. I love them both dearly but autism be a very difficult illness to deal with. And that is without having to cope with fibromyalgia as well. I have fibromyalgia, (for 10 years) asthma, heart disease and just have been told I have to have a total hysterectomy!! I know exactly how you feel, as I was just given sleep medication when I was diagnosed, but nothing else!! Not a leaflet, a book to read, basically no guidance at all. I would say the most important thing now is to get some specialist help and advice. Do you have a good g.p.?? I would insist on seeing a rheumatologist (who deals with these types of health problems) Don't take no for an answer!! If your g.p. is good and knows about fibromyalgia, see what help he can offer. Alot of local hospitals have pain clinics. They can give you advice on pain relief. and some will offer therapies such as accupuncture. I have found accupuncture very helpful. I have regular deep tissue massage. It can hurt sometimes, but it is very good at relaxing the muscles, and does help you sleep better. Hydrotherapy can help, and I find swimming a good exercise. After a while you will probably find a combination of some of these things that will work for you. There is alot of advice/info on this site. I will be happy to help if you have any other questions, but this long message might have answered some of them !! Take care, and lots of love xxx

Hello things can get better. first you need to get pain sleep problems ect sorted out. This will be a matter of trial and error to find the drugs that suit you best. This is where the pain clinic can help And as Gins has said try to rest as much as you can. I know this probably sounds impossible but It will help a lot . Lots of hugs Sue xxxx

Hi melissa1976

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I am so sorry to read that you have this horrid illness, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to your issues.

I can see that Foggy has given the FibroAction website kink, and I think this is a great place to start. I was wondering if you have been given any medications yet? Also, have you been given any referrals to Rheumatology or a Pain Management Clinic? These can help you greatly.

I want to wish you luck with these and genuinely wish you all the best.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi everyone.

Just want to say thank you so much for all your advice and to find so much love, in the replys you gave made me feel like I wasn't going mad.:-)

I went back to the docs today she has now given me Amitriptyline and co-dydramol and blood test are being done next Wednesday to rule out it's not something else. My fingers are crossed these pills will help.

Once again thanks guys, it helps to know I am not alone in this.

Love and hugs Melissa x

Bless you. The others have given the best advice so I wont add to it. Watch the Ami though. It will take a while to settle and don't introduce it in 1 go. I hope the doc said this. I take mine 6pm so as not to get a "hangover" - it's nothing like the alcohol one :) One of us takes 100mg with no side effects and another 10mg and has the hangover. We're all different. :) I know how challenging Autistic spectrum kids can be Once the pain and sleep are improved I hope things will get better for you. Gentle hugs. :)
