Hello Weelamb,

I take this medication regularly and for my Fibro symptoms I can honestly say I could not be without it. When I was at my worse my Gabapentin was changed to Pregabalin (Lyrica) and I can honestly say it made the world of difference.

Pregabalin (Lyrica) is one of the recommended medications for Fibro, please see our website;

fibroaction.org/Pages/Other...

Here is some drug information which may be of interest also;

I hope you find it helps your symptoms too :)

Best Wishes

Hi Weelamb

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I don't personally use this drug but my wife does for her MS. She gets on very well with it and does not have any side effects.

I genuinely hope that it works well for you also.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hello Weelamb,

I thought this post below may be of interest as many people living with Fibro do not find benefit from Morphine, me being one of those people who find no relief either!

healthunlocked.com/fibroact...

I hope you find the right medication combination for you soon. Please do look at our website fibroaction.org and remember it is usually best to try to tackle the symptoms using a combined approach.

So you may want to look into our factsheet about Complementary Therapies too, here's the link;

I hope you find other tips around the community forum too!

Tramadol doesn't work on me any more :-( but is a good pain releaver, ( that's not spelt rite)

bluebell10 profile image
bluebell10 in reply toWeelamb

weelamb, i started off on 75mg twice a day, i was given it as tramadol was not enough it only took the bare edge off pain, even patches didn't make any difference & apparently they don't help fibro, so pain man told me. im not totally pain free i have it 24/7 but if i don't keep on top of my meds god do i know it! even now my feet feel like ive been walking around all day ( normal person) but i havn't been out since tuesday, when i went to dentist & dr's. i still can't do anything much without severe pain. but what can we do ?..... xx

Hello Weelamb,

That's unusual because Tramadol although opioid medication, it is recommended for Fibro as it has a Serotonin pathway unlike the others and report suggest this is why it helps Fibro.

Simple analgesics, such as paracetamol, and mild opiates, such as codeine and the atypical opiate Tramadol, are recommended for the treatment of pain in Fibro patients (Lindsey Middlemiss, Founder of FibroAction 2009)

fibroaction.org/Pages/Analg...

Interesting to hear your experiences tho! I see on another thread you find relief from Capsaicin, so do I. It is said to naturally decrease Substance P which is a chemical excitable to pain and we are reported to have increased Substance P.

Increased levels of the pain-transmitting chemicals substance P and nerve growth factor in the spine (Lindsey Middlemiss, Founder of FibroAction 2009)

fibroaction.org/Pages/What-...

I hope you find this of interest

Best Wishes

What I meant is I've built up a tolerance to Tramadol, that's why I can't used it any more as it doesn't work for me, it did at the start though :-)

Yes I think the cream works well from all others on the market:-)

Hi wee lamb, sorry for late reply, yes, I do feel pain, but not as bad as before, I asked what to expect from this drug, and they said it just enables you to manage fibro so I guess that,s it. They always start you off on a low dose and the tiredness does get better. Xxx

Hi Weelamb

I have been prescribed Pregabalin for fibro and have been taking it for about 7 weeks now. The only side effect I have is a massive weight gain! I have put on nearly a stone, which I am really upset about. I spoke with the practice nurse last week and she did say it would level out. I do walk a couple of times a week and eat healthily, but the weight still goes on. On a positive note, I am sleeping so much better and not waking up several times a night. Or if I do, I seem to go back to sleep straight away. It has also reduced the pain levels, however, I am having a bad day today unfortunately!

Good luck with this, it doesn't work for everyone but I would persevere and see how you get on. Take care, Amanda x

Ahh sorry to hear about ur weight gain:-( doc told me not to worry about that, mmm I hope I don't gain weight as I had surgery 6 months bk& really don't want to be any bigger:-) I'm happy with my weight&size at min,but defo have noticed me having snack attacks, I don't know if it's the tablets/me giving up smoking& just boredom?!

Boo to having a bad day, I so no know what a bad day is , everyday seems to be a ad day for me! but just keep plodding on I guess! Thx u for ur reply :-)it's nice to hear that after a few weeks it starts to get better:-) x

hi weelamb, i take 150mg twice a day & yes it helped a lot, with other pills too, it did cause weight gain & i tried to stop taking it to see what i was like but even after a couple of hours i couldn't stand the pain so it definetaly helps & i would rather reduce my pain & be a bit bigger than i want than to be in all that pain :) xx

Tramadol has been a life saver for me but now trying to cut down because of bad constipation, but feel so bad when I don't take it. I read about it's addiction potential but thought it would be okay. Not sure now though. I have been offered Pregabalin but worry about weight gain, I'm not thin now.

Weelamb profile image
