Hi,

Does anyone have painful eye muscles?

I get a swollen feeling at the back of my eyes & I sometimes find it hard to keep my eyes open. Plus my eyes burn.

You have just described to a tee the symptoms I get when I'm tired, I also get very 'crusty' eyes as well, unfortunately this is one of the symptoms of fibro, as well as your eyes being very dry ( if you've ever been tested for suitability for contact lenses you will have been told you have this problem) this is usually connected to the symptom of having an exceptionally dry mouth and throat ( no matter how much water you drink) and although some people get relief with certain eye drops (as was mentioned in another post recently on the same subject) for most of us it is simply a 'have to live with it' symptom, if like me this happens when your tired listen to your body and go to bed or have a nap, this is your bodies way of saying take a break!!

I hope this has helped, best wishes

Sian

Hi Annie52

I sincerely hope that you are as well as you can be today? I am so sorry to read that you are suffering in this way and I can really relate to what you are saying. I get this quite a lot especially when I have just woken up. I always connect this to the headaches that I suffer. I was wondering if you experience headaches at all?

I think it would be worth going to see your GP about this and discussing it with a medical professional and get some good sound advice and possibly medication to try and alleviate the issue.

Good luck with this and please keep us all up to date with how it goes.

I get this when I am tired or first thing in the morning. I have dry eyes too.

I was having pain and headaches when I was trying to read or do any kind of close work. It turned out to be because my eyes weren't converging properly and I was given exercises which have made a great difference. But I still get muscle pain when I am tired. Seeing the opthalmologist on Saturday so will see what she says.

I also suffer from dry eyes and mouth and sometimes swollen parotid glands as I have mild Sjögren's syndrome. There are some excellent eye gels and drops which can help; I know which ones work for me but wouldn't suggest one as everyone is different. I also have gels and spray to ease my dry mouth when it flares up. Your GP should be able to advise you which to try.

Yes I have sore eyes, I use dark glasses all the time even indoors which helps, also I find one brand of eye drops helps, I don't know if it will suit everyone but I use Clinitas Soothe which seems more oily than other drops.
