Hi everyone,

I have had such a flare up of my fybro symptoms for the past month or so but now I have blurry eyes.

They almost feel like I have a film over them at times and are also sore!!

Has anyone else experienced problems with there eyes?

Hi there and welcome to our group 😊 I see back in August you had not had a diagnoses of fibro. You say your having a flare up. Does that mean you have now been told you do have fibro? If so may I ask what help or medication your GP has recommend. If you feel its not helping maybe another visit maybe needed to let the doctor know how you feel xx

As other people have said it can be many things that cause blurry eyes and as a (relatively) young person awaiting a cataract operation it is best to not put things down to fibro. I know my early night vision issues which were warning signs I had discounted which I should have acted on.

Also steroids are a risk factor for cataracts but it could be any number of things with your age being a factor as well.

Also you say you are taking steroids which are not a typical fibro treatment but are given for polymyalgia so I was wondering if you had other conditions as well.

Hope you get it sorted soon and is something simple. Waitlists for cataract operations are not short unfortunately.

Hiya Flowerinbloom,

Blurry and sore eyes can be the result of a number of things like an infection, change in vision, dry eyes even eye strain to name just a few. If your view is hazy with blurred areas it could be cataracts developing. Eyes can be affected by a lot of things like fatigue, medications and stress. I would advise you to visit your optometrist/optician as they can find exactly what is causing your symptoms. If you can see anything in the corner of your eye or huge floaters please visit for an eye examination as soon as is possible. Yep you guessed it I worked in an Optometrists before I got too sick to work. Let us know how you get on too.

🤗😊

Hi Flowerinbloom I have Fibromyalgia & have been told I have dry eyes & I recently had a cataract op which was brilliant & such an improvement. I put drops in every day for my dry eyes. Definitely go to the opticians asap.

Double check with doctor for side effects from medication. Also I discovered mould hiding in my home, I had an allergy reaction which effected my eyes.

I've been on prednisolone(steriods) for 14months now for polymalgia, weening off at moment but now got diagnosed for fibromyalgia different medication now cause steiods don't help with fibro. Well that what my gp says I'm in Wales uk

My main eye problem seems to be muscular, as it changes during the day and greatly improves after physio treatments like acupressure, osteopathy and acupuncture, also the amino acid GABA, which also relaxes muscles via increasing serotonin...
