I'm on the Corry Brook, which runs in with the Yarty into the Axe, which is of course is tidal , the view from my bathroom is water, water everywhere I just saw part of a tree floating by, no doubt that will cause a prob when it can't get through the bridge. they've been pumping water out of the pub, I have my snorkelling set at the ready !! Seriously though it's been horrendous, the noise of the rain and the wind last night I will never forget, the line at Dawlish has been completely washed away and by the looks of it it going to take some serious time before they will be able to run trains on it again.
I'm off to have a look at the environment website, thanks Paul, see if it matches what I see around me Thank you though for thinking of me
Awwww bless you Paul, and thank you, it definitely shows the Corry in full flood ! I've just spoken to friends who live above Axminster and they say that all they can see looking right out down the Axe Valley to Seaton is flooding !! They aren't able to get out from where they are as the Axe flows between them and the town.
Hi Paul! I gather it has moved about a fair bit! and I think they had some trouble with boats in the harbour there! hey ho and another lots on it's way, deep deep joy
Have you seen the railway line at Dawlish on the news ? That really is incredible, the main link from Devon to Cornwall is going to be out of use for many weeks methinks
Not 'alf. It's funny. On a FB railway group we've been taking about restoring the two alternatives. Prophetic or what? There was some good footage on the news this morning A friend has some good photos locally and I'll post them after my nap My car park is deeper still
Thanks Ken. Fingers crossed. We've had reports of water approaching the 2001 levels We're not as bad as Portland and Dawlish but nevertheless we're still panicking. Don't know why. Can't do anything about it. I'm as ready as I can be but in a ground floor flat, there's no upstairs.
Hi, sorry gins, for not replying earlier, I am ok, the river seems to have receded for the time being, but was getting pretty scary and with more storms predicted for the weekend it's really getting very worrying. More trees down and the fields can't hold anymore rain, it's just flowing off them, what a nightmare of a winter
