Hi, I've recently moved to Cornwall and would like to find a GP, consultant or pain clinic who have an interest in the treatment and support of people with fibromyalgia. I am a nurse who has lived with this awful condition for 20 years ++. Been there, done it, bought the t-shirt. I'm struggling at at present and have no one to help me. Many thanks

Hi Jasmine, welcome to our forum. I can't help with Drs etc. as I live in Somerset, but would like to just say hi and I'm sure you'll get plenty of information from our members who live in Cornwall.
I hope you will feel better soon.
Love GJ xx
Hi Jasmine, and as gerry said! welcome to our forum I'm not sure what the services are like in Cornwall though I would think if you are anywhere near Truro there must be rheumys and pain management teams at Trelisk. If however you're not into what I call deepest Cornwall, there is a very good team which I use at the Royal Devon and Exeter and there may well be good ones at Derriford, in Plymouth. I have lots of friends in Cornwall and will make some enquiries for you! and I am sure there are members here who live in Cornwall and will be able to help you.
Sending positive vibes your way

Thank you so much, all of you, for your welcomes and replies. I'm in Wadebridge, therefore pretty much central to Devon & Cornwall. I will make some enquires as I do need a review........meds not working etc. I have a stressful job, and that doesn't help, so I need to make some changes there. It's all about taking control back from this horrible condition. Hope to get to know you all in the coming weeks. A MASSIVE THANK YOU x

hello jasmine welcome to Cornwall, i live in par st austell i also suffer from fibromyalgia and im finding it very hard to cope with and breaking down in tears all the time, I've seen pain management pain clinic been on so much medication in the last 26years I've had acupuncture done, the doctors have given up on me and taking me off my medication which im still doing, it would be really nice if we could keep in contact and help eachother im affraid I cannot drive anymore though take care hun and good luck xx
Thank you Dee. I do try to stay upbeat and positive, try to live a normal life with drug support and by trying to pace myself. Life has been a challenge of late, and it's all caught up with me, resulting in a bad flare up of my main symptoms. I've always been a tad in denial, but I think it's time for a medical review. I will pester my GP for such a referral. Can't go on feeling so poorly .......x
Hi Jasmine. I too am in Cornwall. I had a fantastic GP at St Keverne Surgery called DR Atherton. She was amazing, supported, guided & trusted in my judgments feelings when it came to me learning about this condition & choosing the correct treatment. HOWEVER, I moved to Penryn 2 yrs ago, recently suffered a flare & my new doctor has NO understanding of fibro or CFS. He judged me before getting to know me, insulted my last GP saying the medication she gave me was just so she could get me out the door in 10 mins & even though suffering from the worst flare I've had in 3yrs he has taken medication away from me I used to manage my condition & said its in my head, there is no physical reason for my pain, for my fatigue the brain is just sending mixed messages. Basically he told me to get on with it! If you do find any good services/GPs anything at all please could you let me know. I too work for the NHS in children's therapy & am desdpetate to get back to work
Sending you well wishes x
